I used to think that too :/ But lately I'm noticing that the best desktop pics are coming from the Windows 7 users. The OS X desktops are beginning to be let down by the grey taskbar (or whatever Apple call the bit at the top). The thingy at the bottom is it's only shining glory now (yes, I clearly do not know the names of Apple desktop features. Dashboard?)

You didn't say anything to me about it on messenger so I am very much alive!

My reasoning for it is because I think the Windows 7 bar just looks big and ugly, and some of my apps I dock have ugly icons, I need to dock them but their icons make the dock part of my taskbar quite hideous

Simple, don't use programs with ugly icons

I don't normally have icons on my desktop but the icons I have spray canned over are just stuff I am working on :-)
