    Actually, only guns were used in Rourke's drift.

    The battle before, in which the British got batted, cannons were used by the Brits and they still lost, somehow. That battle of Isandlwana had 20,000 zulus and 8,000 British. From there the 4,000-5,000 zulus moved on to Rourke's Drift.
