No Blu-Ray DVD Drive, bit of a lame case, an ATI 4850? Ew (also PowerColor? Never heard of them) and less RAM, no TV tuners etc.

First of all, know how much a Blu-Ray drive costs? Lol.

IMO You can't compare that i7 build to Dom's build.

I purposely did not include TV tuner cards in this spec as it is being compared to doms base system alone, excluding Blu-ray and tv tuners etc. 8gb is pretty much overkill, the 6GB i specced very decent for an I7 build as its DDR3 and runs at 1333mhz. The case is pretty decent for the price although you could spend £40 more and get whatever case you want, same goes for the graphics card, spend an extra £20-40 and your sorted.

However, i did spec the best bang for the buck.

Sadly still waiting for graphics card from bloody overclockers.
    I have this monitor:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...A3P5ROKL5A1OLE
Its a bit different as it is a TV and a PC monitor so it has all the component cables and other stuff I wanted to be running digital tv, my xbox 360, wii and PC. If I was looking for just a PC monitor I would have picked your exact one, these latest Samsung ones really are brilliant lol.

I have to say that that Antec 300 case is actually really good, Im using it on my current PC and althought it doesent come with stuff like a clear side view of your pc like the 900 case does its really good and does exactly what I needed it to do. My bro has a clear acrylic case that he used for his £1500 + build and my case has exactly the same stuff as his, its just not clear lol, cost him alot more.

The Antec 300 is undeniably a nice case, but there are nicer ones

I am thinking of getting more LED's, I currently have some on each fan

One thing i would say though, if you have any money left over, you could perhaps buy another 260 and sli them together. (you might have to buy a new PSU depending on the power output of the graphics card).

If I wasnted prepared to listen then my build would be 99% different to what it is now

Yeh there are still a few faults in that one! As you say. I went for better quality (and I hope its what I got )

    ----

Finally I have everything running except the screen?

It comes up with 'Digital' in the top left corner then changes to 'Analog' and it keeps doing that, then sometimes it comes up with 'Signal could not be found'? Everything is plugged in etc.

    Any ideas?

    ---

The case works really well, but I might need to get some Sound Dimming bits, as the graphics card is VERY powerful to say the least

Dom, try ringing eBuyer [if they have a contact number] and explain your problem, they will probably be able to troubleshoot it from there.
    Apart from that, great build!
I would consider getting a back up hard drive though, incase anything may go wrong with the 1TB one and you lose your data.
Nice case, it's a big bad boy eh?

    Great work Dom!

Also, was it easy to build the computer as I am thinking of building my own, and I have got some experience but not a lot, I know when you got the mobo in that's pretty much sorted from there as it's pretty straight forward ie; RAM, graphics card, sound card.

    ^_^.

    Thanks,
    Zokoli.

    • Blu-ray = £80 = £786
    • Ati decent GCard = £120 = £906
    • TV tuner = £40 = £946
    • RAM = Better performer as it's DDR3?

That system would have been better to buy in my eyes. Just my opinion.

Yep I will probably ring ebuyer later (after guitar course) and ask about it, as all the main parts are from eBuyer

I have a backup hardDrive on my current 'family shared' computer, I'll probably nick that one as I am the only person that everr back stuff up

About building. To be honest it is very easy to build. Anything you are unsure on is in the motherboard manual (easy to read etc), and considering most of this forum said I would never build it (and its been built in about 8 hours) it can't be that hard

You might get a few problem along the way which can easily be fixed (the motherboard or something wasn't working with me, still wasn't working qwith nothing on it, we unscrewed it and it worked So we screwed it back in and it works fine!) So dopn't expect for everything to go perfectly, but nothnig should go horribly wrong!

EDIT: Tom I am not against people giving ideas, just some users (both of which are banned ) try making other ideas. I purposely built custom to makwe it easier to upgrade etc, and my motherboard can hold DDR3 ram. My problem was I had so many bits I really wanted, but I didn't want to go over £1050 so I was already over, and didn't know what to scrap Still whats done is done
