Same as when I watched it as well. I went in not knowing anything about it, only that it was good. From the first episode I was glued to the screen. It was amazing. I think after reading the manga I don't appreciate as much as I did though. Because the manga is notably better than the anime in more ways than one, although the anime does amange to outdo the manga every now and then. For the last half especially though, the manga is better.

There are two specific things in the anime that I do not like, but the Manga handles them perfectly.

    Editing time ran out.

Heres the best scene in the manga that was unfortunately not in the anime. Absolute genius.

I've been looking for the novel for the past month, but it's currently out of print and a lot of places are waiting for new stock. I checked everywhere. Waterstones will alert me when they have it. I have no doubt it's anything less than amazing, since it is the original afterall. The novel inspired the manga, and then the manga inspired the anime. Since I prefer the manga to the anime, I wonder how the novel will fair in comparison.

The Neko Misaki part was hilarious. Those two episodes where Satou was addicted to that RPG game were priceless. I always remember the scene where he filled up his computer with hundreds of gigabytes of loli images as well. Another big anime/manga difference I just remembered is that Kawashima-senpai's brother (the hikikomori who also plays the RPG game) has a much bigger role in the manga than he does in the anime. I was quite surprised with how big a role he had, actually. Theres a nice plot twist involving him though.

The funny bits of NHK were brilliant, there were however a few moments were the funny bits were a bit too childish for the anime, right now I’m having a hard time recalling many of these so I guess there were not many! One however stuck in my head was when Misaki was throwing rocks at Satos door and he was hit in the head by the rock. Things like that I thought did not go with the anime, especially as its target audience is older teens. However overall it is such a good anime! The ending was sad because that’s it, there’s no more However I just saved a link of the manga online to my Iphone so hopefully I will read that And hopefully find the novel to read soon Something I wonder after watching the anime is, are Misaki and Sato in a love relationship? Or are they just friends because Misaki needs Sato, and Sato needs Misaki. :S The ending of the anime left me wondering that, throughout the anime they showed love interest in each other, but they never actually kissed in the whole series.

Also, when you spoke about when Yamazaki leaving and it just like he left all of being a otaku behind, well looking at that scene were Yamazaki and Sato are talking on the phone when Yamazaki is out on the farm, it shows him with his stuff still there, His figurines put up beside his PC and his collection put next to his bed. I guess it’s trying to show he’s still the same guy he just has more responsibilities now.

Overall the anime is just amazing.

I wouldn't say that's childish, and it helps set the mood really. You know a serious moment isn't coming up because Satou just got hit in the face with a rock. It's funny. Every bit of comedy worked in my opinion. Another great comedic moment was when Satou stepped on one of Yamazaki's models and both their faces turned to instant shock.

A kiss wasn't needed. The scene where both Misaki and Satou were in Misaki's abandoned house fully conveyed the feeling that they were the only two in the universe and nothing else mattered. A kiss would have seemed out of place. Especially considering the way the relationship is developed. Misaki and Satou rarely share their thoughts with anyone, but since we are the audience we always know what goes on inside their heads, so we know the relationship better than the characters do in a way. Most of the time Satou is oblivious to what Misaki thinks of him, and Misaki is oblivious to what Satou thinks of her.

But he's hardly the Otaku he used to be. I think they could have handled Yamazaki's part in the story a little better, but it was still great. I genuinely felt sorry for him when he got rejected and then put that mask on and started mucking around pretending he was a robot. He was letting his Otaku side run wild so he could forget reality. Subtle moments like that are what make Welcome to the NHK so great.

Just remembered another priceless scene. The one where Satou goes out with a camera to take pictures of all the school girls who were walking home from school. Theres a huge gush of wind which produces many panty shots and Satou dives up with the camera in joy.

Haha, the part were Sato stands on the model is too funny I thought bits like that were priceless and really were great moments of the anime, I guess its just that one rock bit that I didn't like Another priceless moment is in the RPG episodes were Sato is happy about what Mia has said and it cuts to a picture of his face in the real world which is almost bug like which has not shaved in a wile

I guess that in the moment when they were in the house a kiss would have been out of place, but there was still many moments in the last episode that I thought a kiss would have really summed up that they were in a relationship. I just felt that them being so oblivious to what the other thinks was a bit confusing, I mean I know that they both liked each other, but? Did that ever progress? I just thought they could have done something to show that it had progressed into a relationship, Maybe a kiss scene here:

I agree that Yamazaki isn’t the same Otaku that he was before, I guess if there were more episodes it could have really done a bit more on Yamazaki and Kashiwa and also Kobayashis brother.

I really do wish the anime would carry on, maybe add a second series with more to it, i thought they could really do something more with the anime. The ending of it did not make it impossible for the anime to return! Unfortunately it won't

The mask looks so much like the old TV series Masked Rider! I think it is
