I think some advertisements on the rare values pages of the sites for the sales forums.
There are normally always guests looking threough those forums inpaticular, so maybe a ad saying 'Buy and Sell your furniture - in just one simple registration'

We compare the two forums HxF and CHF on the forcing to sign up thing. Like Graham I wouldn't have signed up if I could just browse and now I have 1800 posts and am a frequent user. However, saying that CHF has more of a pull factor than HxF. I know myself, Geraint, Graham, Leah, Abbie, GommeInc, Saurav, Culturist who were (some still are) very active HxF users and now/did use CHF. GommeInc and Saurav only signed up recently due to how poor HxF is performing. Things are better organised, better community, better competitions, better debates (lol), better management, management actually play habbo thus know what their users want etc.
I believe it works for them because the "pull" as you put it is in the community for them - people go there as guests from other forums like this one because something's kicking off there or some other such social reason, whereas our biggest influx of guests are direct from Habbo and more interested in rare values and Habbo news than interacting with the members here and getting involved. Here I can't see it working as members =/= an increase in active posting, as can be seen by how many people sign up and never post or do so very rarely. We compare the two forums HxF and CHF on the forcing to sign up thing. fire all comps staff and let me take over u wud need to give me a big inbox cus so many people would enter
Perhaps there should be an unforced registration page which pops up every 35 page views and then you can just click 'No I do not want to register' and then you can go for another 35 posts.
Chippiewill.
I don't really get what you mean. Their biggest influx of guests are direct from Habbo too however they're forced to sign up. I know getting members isn't the issue, it's making them stay. Maybe they'd stay more if they had an account, therefore an identity.I believe it works for them because the "pull" as you put it is in the community for them - people go there as guests from other forums like this one because something's kicking off there or some other such social reason, whereas our biggest influx of guests are direct from Habbo and more interested in rare values and Habbo news than interacting with the members here and getting involved. Just a side thought. Would it be possible for members in there first three months to move up the rep system easier. Maybe how it used to be like 200 for a new rep power, maybe that'd make people stay. I know people don't stay for their rep power but at least they won't feel so useless idk.
I know!! I just saw your thread when you signed up the other day :8
I first found out about habboxforum.com through Habbox. They always used to advertise the "News forum" on the Habbo News part of habbox.com
When I registered, I had little clue on how forum worked. Slowly, I started off using the habbo news section and posting habbo news. Then I started making avatars and asking people to make them for me, so I used that section too.
Then when I became a moderator, I moved slowly to the General section. I was bullied as a moderator by the then-older members, and that made me want to leave. I think if you bully new members, they just dont want to stay. Then Baving made me stay.
And now I used all sections of this forum.
Thats my story.
no you have opinions, you are not staff material. nah, in all seriousness if they actually employed some people who use the forum daily (all 9 of us) and actually know the forum well and play habbo and can easily make things interesting then that'd be a good move, they'd never swallow their pride and allow people who would actually be good at roles but would oppose management to be staff.
it's common knowledge to active users that we don't get on but i'm not 14 and i know you'd make them fun and i'd even probably enter.
If that can be done it sounds like the best idea ever imo. +rep if i can.
Here is a comparison between Habbox Competitions and CHF competitions:
I am sorry, but that story is just so long and I don't see many of the members bothering to read that. And the T&C is longer than the T&C for my mobile contract.
The competition is so boring too "/
And then we have CHF ...
They seem to do comeptitions every day and several a day. All interesting, short, simple and with no huge T&C.
If Habbox did those competitions everyday, I would enter most of them.
Management need to tell this to the current Competition department, or hire a new one. I would happily do a competition such as above everyday.
