He was so close to pole and Vettel only just pipped it.
Hopefully he'll have a good race though, and manage to overtake and grab the win.

I have left for now but may return in the future!
Good race today, Heidfeld overtaking Lewis into 1st corner and finishing 3rd at the end - well done to him.
Vettel did what he needed to do and he was helped when Lewis slowed down.
Glad to see JB finishing 2nd too!
Alonso & Hamilton given 20 sec penalties... That means no change in position for Alonso, but Hamilton has been demoted from 7th to 8th place.
I didnt even think it was Hamiltons fault, but suppose its down to what the stewards think.
It wasn't really, and the only reason he got a penalty was because he allegedly 'changed direction.' No doubt Ferrari had a whine and knew the punishment - so weren't to bothered (as Fernando didn't even lose a place)
I thought it was a good race today, and it was good to see Jenson pulling off a second and proving his worth. He is four points clear of Lewis now, so that has got to be something to be proud of even if its race 2. I'm really hoping that Lewis or Jenson can knock him off his perch next weekend in China, as they deserve a win. Mercedes are still doing rubbish though and putting on a pretty disappointing show. I was watching the F1 Forum, and they seemed to think that Hamilton was waiting for a call from Red Bull and ready to start negations. It would be good to see Hammy at Red Bull, as surely he can't stay at McLaren forever?
All in all a good day. Roll on China next week!![]()

Pirelli has made F1 artificial. It should be about racing imo.
One for the road.
I agree. Its Bernie most of the time, he wants artificial rain and sprinklers now. Anyway, I'm looking forward to China
Hopefully Jenson can win.

Watched Second Practice earlier today on the BBC site, and Vettel's Red Bull is still blowing everybody else away. I didn't realize qualifying was on at 6am tomorrow, not sure whether or not to wake up in time for it (I usually end up doing so!)
Lewis has also dismissed claims that he'll only be staying at McLaren during his whole career, quite rightly. They seem to think they own him and that he'll stay even if they stop being competitive. All Lewis wants to do is win championships and if there is a better offer on the table - I'm sure he'll jump at the chance as EJ said last week.
It looks like it'll be a fun weekend.

Mark Webber out - Q1!
One for the road.
