They can be different things like planes, scenery, airlines, traffic, etc.

Some are freeware, others you have to pay for.

Quite easy to install, depends what you have really!

Basically they 'addon' things to your FS to improve it. Such as extra scenery to improve default. Like an upgrade to for example a PC, addon stuff to improve it.

Some are free (www.avsim.com) some arn't search FS Addons or something on Google.
