The "hack" as it were had nothing to do with the .passwd file, as the php files were exposed a user could quite easily walk in (without restriction) and view the common.inc.php file which had the MySQL database password in.
As the password was left in plain sight with no notices, nobody can do anything about it. Work on security next time chums.

I dont care, if I want to game I have a PS3 and Xbox 360.
I know I speak for a lot of people who are annoyed by your asshat comments.
y'wha?
This thread was fine until he came in and started talking about some silly macrumors hack.
And your bound to say that, your just another Windows fanboy like your friend. Stop acting like a sheep.
y'wha?
I don't see a problem with people talking about the Macworld news feed in the Macworld thread. You would have probably flamed anyone who created a separate thread for it as well so there's no winning. As I said before, If you don't like a post then just ignore it.
And I'm not a Windows fan boy you ******. I have an iPod nano 3rd gen and an iPod touch 2nd gen, I hate some Microsoft products like IE and Windows Defender. There is no way you can call me a "Windows fan boy"
Lets set the stage on fire, and hollywood will be jealous.
I really could not care what products you have, but seriously, you come across as a real Windows fanboy. It was a mac fansites news feed, hardly groundbreaking news now was it?
y'wha?
