The Last Airbender

Haha, I know how you feel. I'm currently watching the series for the third time. I just can't put it down, its too amazing.

For the film M. Night Shyamalan wrote the script which the two creators of the series oversaw, so they did have input. I don't think there'll be many problems with the script myself. I'm just annoyed at how some things have been changed around and how a lot of the comedy, including the Caggabe Man, won't be in the movie.

Also, I think you just have a dirty mind. The show is for kids, although I admit there are some adult themes present.

I do not have a dirty mind, it's clearly a ****. It extends before it begins to penetrate lol. The show is littered with this stuff, it's like when Disney shoved it all in--especially the bit when Sokka is laying in his tent with a rose in his mouth, when Zuko walks in. The morning after Toph says something that obviously implies they had sex, I can't remember what though.

It isn't a ****, it's a drill. You don't seem to have noticed but drills, much like *****, are long, erect shafts. You just have a dirty mind.

Also, I think M. Night had really ruined the movie now. In a recent interview he revealed some changes.

Firebenders won't be able to bend unless they have fire around them that they are able to manifest. Only master firebenders will be able to bend 'using their chi'. He said this change was made because everyone else but the firebenders needed their element around them in order to bend. I guess he forgot that the source of firebending is THE SUN! What a moron.

M. Night also said that the pronunciation of some of the words has also been changed for personal reasons because he is from South India. Aang will be pronounced like how you say 'tong' instead of 'tang'. Sokka will be pronounced 'soh-ka' instead of 'sock-ka'. Avatar will be pronounced 'of-atar' whatever the hell that is and Iroh will be pronounced 'eer-row' instead of 'eye-row'. This change is just pointless. No one had trouble saying the names from the series, but just because he says them differently its gotta change. What. A. Moron.

Here is the interview. The first comment pretty much sums up my feelings...

"I think M. Night only watched a few episodes of the first season, otherwise he would have figured out the freaking SUN is the source of Firebending. That was the point of attacking during the eclipse, when the Fire Nation was powerless. So what will M. Night do when the eclipse comes in to play, if it even comes into play at all? Also, I don't give a CRAP if he's Southern Indian or not, a name is a name! You can't just change the pronunciation of names of characters from a popular established work. Other than being a big "Screw you, this is my movie" to the fans, it's absolutely pointless. The fans are still going to pronounce the names as they were on the show. Did M. Night actually think we were going to drop everything and adopt HIS movie as the new "Avatar"? What an ego-maniac. This movie will fall right between Speed Racer and the epic fail that is Dragonball: Evolution."

Well, that's the third movie ruined already.

He said that when the comet arrives in the third film it will allow all firebenders to bend using their chi. I guess it adds some new possibilites but changing the fact that the source of firebending is the sun and firebenders are able to bend because of it is just pointless. It's another step away from the series. M. Night is just making The Last Airbender one of his films and is forgetting that it is an adaptation and that the fans have expectations.

Seriously, the whole reason that the firebenders were able to wager war and maintain victory is because they drew their source from the sun, which is always around them. M. Night has messed up the balance because now waterbenders have a massive advantage. The invasion of the north is more like a suicide mission now since all the waterbenders would have to do to defeat the fire nation would be to extinguish their source of fire or hope that it rains. The change also means that a two person army of Katara and Ty Lee could take out the entire fire nation. Extinguish the fire source and block their chi. No more firebenders. Fire is pretty much the weakest element now. Airbenders have air all around them. Waterbenders can gather water vapours from the air. Earth benders have earth all around them. Fire benders better get out the old firelighting flint if they want to do anything. What a joke.

The third and final trailer is out.

The one thing I do have faith in is the special effects in this movie. The bending looks fantastic! Looks like the film could actually be quite epic.



Some nice footage of Appa in the trailer as well - looking good. Wish I could say the same about the Blue Spirit. What the hell did they do to him?

Also, the movie is going to be in 3D. Thankfully the release dates don't seem to be affected. I myself will be sticking to good old 2D though. Whats with all the 3D crap these days?

Also - I assume the dragon in the trailer is Roku's dragon... "you may already be too late" is not something Roku would say. He always had hope and faith that Aang would succeed. M. Night has made this movie too dark.

Aparrently Koh won't be making a psyical appearence in the film. They've kind of merged his character with the dragon in the trailer which will serve as Aang's spirit guide. I think its still unknown as to whether the dragon is actually Roku's.

Big, big, big, big, big mistake taking out Koh.



Aang is also not going to turn into that huge blue water monster in the film like he did at the end of the first season. Why the hell are they taking out all of the good stuff!? Damn you, M. Night.

More new footage in the newest Japanese trailer. Nice use of Immediate Music as well. Seems the movie is going to be really high on action. I just hope the rest of the content is up to scratch as well.

America get it on the 1st of July.
We in the UK have to wait until the 13th of August.
