It has to meet a lot of criteria as well as being themed nicely, the symmetry isn't exactly the top priority, then again we aren't exactly posting it in cool rooms.
Maybe it would have been nice to acknowledge we actually did listen and we actually did make a change rather than going straight into all the negatives. I posted a feedback thread, you all gave feedback, I didn't moan about the feedback, I took it and made a change. I don't know what you're getting at there.
This hasn't damaged my "pride" one bit, and it doesn't play that much of a part in why Im defending the desk. I'm just defending the fact that we've made such an effort since getting the feedback I requested, yet it goes ignored and even more negatives come out of it. Its quite frustrating. I actually don't really care that much about how the room looks, its just a pixelated room, I won't lose sleep over it. Next time we'll just let you guys design it and do a poll or something, saves us a lot of hassle.
This room is poo, the old room was poo, and I'm sure all rooms in the future will be poo as no one on this forum is ever overly happy with the things we provide.
I'm not taking it personally, I'm just defending the department. I didn't actually do all the layout so its hardly my baby.
Too much hassle than its worth! As I said, we'll let you guys submit a layout, have a poll and then we'll just keep it as that. No point in changing it up as all it does is provoke the argument of cheapness (pixel graphics these days!) or being distasteful or not listening to what the public want.
I thought the designs were going to the public vote this time otherwise some of us have wasted hours of our time for nothing. You can still have very well designed rooms that meet the criteria. :S
To be fair at the time of DJ-3000 help desks were at their peak. Also there was only a limited amount of furni available before habbo released the new ranges so he only had the choice of what was available.Although I was only a visitor at the time, people LOVED DJ-3000 layouts. He is still spoken about today. In fact, I *think* he was mentioned within this thread itself. He hasn't been staff for YEARS yet still actively mentioned every single time the layout of the desk is mentioned.
DJ-3000 had a good layout, the staff area was a lot larger but with the decline in help desks there isn't a need for such a large staff section. The help desk is used more as a place to go rather than for it's purpose. As far as I know there hasn't been a replacement for Newsbox/Snewsbox so people need a general popular room to go.
To be honest I wish I hadn't defended the layout now.
This is what I was just thinking of saying to him as I was reading this thread lol. No point asking people to make designs only to disregard them or change them so dramatically that the essence of them doesn't work any more
People crave help desks rooms, popularity can't be an excuse. The only thing that makes people not go in HxHD can only really be the atmosphere of the room which is deteriorating and the layout. Other help desk rooms are busy. 8freak8 has good designs too - the desk was relatively popular then too.
I see a correlation with layouts and activity. HFFM lounge is always busy. HxHD is hardly inactive but it only attracts the same people, staff members and people who use Habbox. It doesn't attract any one else whereas other help desks do. I'm not saying this is primarily because of the dire layout but I reckon it's an element.
Hmm, its plain - add more colour, a floor?, remove the water feature + add plants around the room. Its not very summery if you ask me - Summer = Sun, outdoors (plants, trees, grass), and colours - Atm I can see 1/3.
Well it certainly comes across as a mini hissy fit because the feedback doesn't heap praise. Yes you took time but it doesn't look like you made any effort. People have focused on the positives too i.e. they like the fact it's bright and summery.
However, this design is so detrimentally poor that positives are difficult to pick out.
I think letting people decide via poll is the very best way.

Basically a quick fix would be:
use some rugs/tiles
a few more plants
co-ordinating colour furniture
get rid of the lodge.
easy peasy lemon squeezy.
I like rooms with a theme, especially to match the current season. I prefer it much more to the boring executive which has been there for a while lol.
sam, pm me with a room to donate furni into or so we can arrange to look through my rooms for "decent" rares to donate (i doubt i have the new ones).
In recent times then. DJ-3000 was a long time ago.Although I was only a visitor at the time, people LOVED DJ-3000 layouts. He is still spoken about today. In fact, I *think* he was mentioned within this thread itself. He hasn't been staff for YEARS yet still actively mentioned every single time the layout of the desk is mentioned. Therefore, it's evident that a suitable and an attractive layout can be produced.
I don't even really agree with the limited furniture argument. Habbox is the biggest UK fansite and if it wanted it could have numerous rare donations. I have no doubt your counter argument will be along the lines of "they can be used for better things". However, HxHD was only kept open because it's supposedly a fundamental part of Habbox thus it's hugely important. I'd rather see less in the HxSS and more put towards HxHD because at the end of the day HxHD is there to stay. HxSS is a temporaray thing.
I would hope to say HxSS isn't a temporary thing as we do it every year. In reply to a later post, I've heard the troublemakers being a reason for people not wanting to go in the desk but I've never hear of the layout being a reason to not go in HxHD whatsoever. In fact we are often quite popular. The Executive layout is pretty much proof that people will come in regardless, as they've put up with that long enough.
We'll include them for sure when we do open votes up, you haven't wasted time. This is a temporary change whereas I had contacted you both for permanant design changes
Again, a room can be great without what you personally class as "decent rares". If you want to donate to HxHD thats fine, and I'll make sure they are used in competitions and what not in the desk itself, however I could never promise someone we would use them in a layout.
Sammeth.
