1GHz processor? Been around for a long time. 5MP camera? Loads already have that. HD recording? Is around. free iPhone to iPhone calling? It's WiFi, if it wasn't free it'd be stupid. Improved screen isn't that impressive :/

I blame the hype, not Apple, though they do not help :/

Really can't be arsed to read the whole thread but basically here's my opinions:

    - There is such a thing as too thin my Desire is too thin, let alone the new iPhone which is 2mm thinner than my Desire
    - Big woop, the camera is the same as my current phone, will even have 720p recording when FroYo is released
    - Still the same old "moderated" app store
    - No 4G? Would have thought they'd put this in, even without a huge market for it outside the USA
    - LED flash is a bit of a let down, even if most phones come with it
    - Oh god, iOS is going to other devices?!
    - iBooks... meh, Kindle reader ftw
    - Still as closed as ever
    - Not "proper" multitasking, when I multitask I want the app to continue running, not go into a weird "paused" state
    - I was lol'ing at the problems Jobs was having with their WiFi, stop using Apple basestations guys LoL
    - Guitar Hero was on Android since release of paid apps, GH is old hat on mobile devices
    - LOL Farmville, what **.
    - Since when was a glass screen and wireless antennas (OMG!!11111111!1) a feature?
    - Same crap price for us UK users I reckon
    - Nothing about their new game center? Wth?
    - Didn't like how they represented Android vs iPhone OS, like that isn't biased at all
    - Love the new design though

As I say, just my opinions, I kinda think it's just a rebranded HTC Evo :/

I'm sure there were rumours on HD recording as well, I remember people saying about 720p etc. (not for the screen)

    Conversation ends their.

Ok, so right.. I'm not saying "They should have 3D on the iPhone RIGHT NOW" but they're supposed to be like the masters of nanotechnology and things like that..
Tbh, they should be thinking about this stuff, contemplating it.. Not bringing out a product that people can "deal with" till they do actually master it..
Should keep us anticipating an actual "REVOLUTIONARY" (a word apple use a lot, yet i'm still to whitness a product that truley is) device.

    My opinion. That's all.
    SIG ASAP.

I'm not Anti-Apple at all, I'm anti-hyperbole and anti-apple fanboys. I was very negative of the iPad and will continue to be until someone tells me how it does anything more than an iPod Touch (and i'm talking more than just "well it has a bigger screen" or "oh it has a sim card"). I think the additional battery life for example is a welcome addition, all smartphones suffer in this area. I also look forward to iOS4, the categories will be very useful for my 64GB iPod Touch (I do own Apple products ). The processor will no doubt be a good thing too.

I've little faith in the camera though, the iPhone camera has never been particularly amazing in the past, the one on the 3GS is good but nothing to shout about. HD Recordings aren't up to much though, the HTC EVO 4G has 720p recording (HD) but after watching some videos made on it they're nothing to shout about:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5U8kAU4XRlM

I'm sure the iPhone 4G will be exactly the same, it won't be any better at recording than other devices and the HD label is just to lure people in. The video calling really isn't anything new or revolutionary nor is a book store for the iPhone, Amazon Kindle has had an iPhone app for books for ages now.
Thanks for the constructive post, which is more than I can say for someone else in this thread... I have to say I totally agree with most of what you said and I will post a constructive response when I get back home, its a pain typing on my iPhone!

The gaming centre is a useless feature imo. I still don't even know what it does.. :L
And since the iPhone is SO overpriced in the UK, I ain't gonna be able to play with alot of people here in the North-East..

I have justified the price before in other threads. The conversion rate isnt as good as what people think it is, and the price is also put with variations of the exchange rate. US prices do not include tax, as this varies from state to state, whereas ours do. The iPad price worked out to be about £420 rather than the £429 apple have, which, is the difference in exchange rate fluctuations

Based on that the iPhone would be £246 (£210 w/o VAT)

Default Apple Announces Release of Safari 5 with Extensions - But Where Is It?

Apple just issued a press release announcing the launch of Safari 5, though it hasn't been officially posted on their site so far.

Apple today released Safari 5, the latest version of the world's fastest and most innovative web browser, featuring the new Safari Reader for reading articles on the web without distraction, a 30 percent performance increase over Safari 4,* and the ability to choose Google, Yahoo! or Bing as the search service powering Safari's search field. Available for both Mac® and Windows, Safari 5 includes improved developer tools and supports more than a dozen new HTML5 technologies that allow web developers to create rich, dynamic websites. With Safari 5, developers can now create secure Safari Extensions to customize and enhance the browsing experience.

    Features Include:

    - Safari Reader makes it easy to read single and multipage articles on the web by presenting them in a new, scrollable view without any additional content or clutter. When Safari 5 detects an article, users can click on the Reader icon in the Smart Address Field to display the entire article for clear, uninterrupted reading with options to enlarge, print or send via email.
    - Powered by the Nitro JavaScript engine, Safari 5 on the Mac runs JavaScript 30 percent faster than Safari 4, three percent faster than Chrome 5.0, and over twice as fast as Firefox 3.6.* Safari 5 loads new webpages faster using Domain Name System (DNS) prefetching, and improves the caching of previously viewed pages to return to them more quickly.
    - Safari 5 adds more than a dozen powerful HTML5 features that allow web developers to create media-rich experiences, including full screen playback and closed captions for HTML5 video. Other new HTML5 features in Safari 5 include HTML5 Geolocation, HTML5 sectioning elements, HTML5 draggable attribute, HTML5 forms validation, HTML5 Ruby, HTML5 AJAX History, EventSource and WebSocket.
    - The new, free Safari Developer Program allows developers to customize and enhance, Safari 5 with extensions based on standard web technologies like HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript. The Extension Builder, new in Safari 5, simplifies the development, installation and packaging of extensions. For enhanced security and stability, Safari Extensions are sandboxed, signed with a digital certificate from Apple and run solely in the browser.

According to the press release, Safari 5 will be available for free download today. With no mention of it on their site or during today's keynote, we're not sure if this was an intentional announcement.

It's easy saying that, but it has never been inside of an iPhone. The 3GS was lightning fast with 600mhz, now 1ghz? it's going to be insane.
5MP camera? Loads already have that.
Yeah they have, 5MP is big enough for A PHONE camera, why need bigger for the odd picture?
    HD recording? Is around.
Ah yes, swipe that one under the carpet, quick! admit it, not many phones do it, it's a great addition.
free iPhone to iPhone calling? It's WiFi, if it wasn't free it'd be stupid.
Yes it's good, and it will be able to work over 3G when jailbroken (jailbreak is already out for beta 4.0 firmwares)
Improved screen isn't that impressive :/
Ahh yes! the best screen ever made for a mobile device, and it 'isn't that impressive', ah rite.

Also there was no hope because most people knew what it looked like as it'd been leaked god knows how many times.
