Firstly, obviously FS2004/FSX I would reccommend and then you can use a keyboard but in my opinion it is terrible so a joystick is reccomended very much -

I suggest you get a joystick, and FS2004 will actually cost you about £25, if you but it from the shop.

The first *cough* copied *cough* FS I had was my uncle's version of 2000. Still got the disc, but it doesn't work lol.
No I don't play any old ones, apart from FS2004. But I got CD's for FS98 (1998) and FS2002![]()
