It wasn't an english person who discovered scotland.

Us English invented most of the world's countries actually.. when we controlled Africa we divided it up into countries as we wanted (hence why the African countries have very much squared-off boundaries) and also because we found and colonised a lot of islands and areas, we named them how we wanted and thus invented the country. We didn't actually make the land, but we set the borders and we gave them names, that to me says that we invented the countries.

Edit: And the reason they didn't make Scotland part of England is that the Scots (then known as Picts) were too vicious, and we just gave them a country so they'd bugger off and not raid Northern England.

Scotland was founded well before the colonies though, by the English kings who were tired of the Picts attacking places up north, so we gave them the top of our island as a country ^_^

Scotland is part of the whole uk. You should support england in the world cup being that their your neighbours and if you got invaded or w/e we would use our army to fight.
