Unfair in the sense that they are being given badges for testing things - fair enough, let them test I don't care... But don't give them exclusive badges for it, everyone should have the opportunity to try and get a badge.
But they didn't do essentially nothing. The Habbos that were chosen were experienced Habbos, if you read the blog post you can see that most contributed towards ensuring the feature worked for other Habbos; those that didn't did not get a badge. And that's all they got, a badge. You need to let it go.So glad I'm not the only one that sees it this way, I brought it up yesterday with a fansite owner and they got funny with me about it lol. I sent powertoo a long rant over im, saying how extremely unfair it is that a select few are getting to test these things - and not only that they are being given exclusive rare badges for basically doing nothing. I wouldn't have an issue with it if they opened up a poll for everyone and selected people randomly, but no they're selecting fansite owners which is unfair.
Small target groups of experienced users are essential to get out features for the rest of the hotel, they could not have possibly had a large open group for everyone to join with some of the reported errors, disconnections etc would've been an absolute nightmare to try and handle with a larger group. The group was exclusive to ensure the rest of you could continue to play properly.
That's not how free-flow chat started though, originally that was a very exclusive group as well; infact it had less members than the rental spaces did. The "open-beta" group was introduced as a way for people to slowly move over to free-flow chat by themselves. Applying for membership to the group would've taken time that the developers did not have, infact if you read the blog comment dmitrym comments on how difficult it is for him to ensure that this is all working in such a rush.
I hadn't seen the blog post until it was mentioned here but now I have looked you can see that those who helped report bugs got the badge. If you do a badge scanner on everyone in the testing group then not everyone got badge. In fact, a minority of the group got the badge. I don't work for any fansite and have no interest in doing so but I fully support them getting a badge. They have spent their own time / effort to make the feature more workable / enjoyable for us and what a fantastic feature I think it will prove to be.
If people are that upset about a badge, they really need to take a step outside.
@Abdicators nothing you can say will make me think this is fair... You may say that fansite owners are "experienced" players but I disagree, pretty sure I have been playing much longer than most fansite owners and know a lot more than them. And at the end of the day, it's a pointless feature - there isn't a need for it so I don't understand why it was introduced in the first place. But at the end of the day, exclusive badges should not be given for beta testing... They're testing something, they shouldn't be expected a reward and they shouldn't be given a reward.
The fact you've said "pretty sure I have been playing much longer" is a sure indication that you're simply jealous and upset that you never received the badge. At the end of the day, it's a badge. The feature is actively being used in the hotel, and for all you know could well be received very positively and implemented into many more rooms; just because you don't see the need, does not mean there isn't one.@Abdicators nothing you can say will make me think this is fair... Here's the thing, if there was a truly random poll there was a chance we would've ended up with "MissSallyNewUser8123" and whilst i'm sure she's a great lass, she doesn't have the experience nor the furniture to take part in the testing that was required to ensure everything that worked (or didn't work!) was highlighted quickly.
The testers that did not put time into testing rentable spaces did not get a badge, only those that devoted their own time into it for a feature that the rest of Habbo can now use, that is worthy of a badge. In the same sense that you spend most days completing quests or taking part in room design competitions, that use of your time results in you receiving a badge. The use of their time here, got them a badge. There's nothing else to it.
I haven't read any additional info on this Heya test , but I imagine fansite owners were ALSO chosen because the top 4 sites have quite active forums in which the owners can gather masses of feedback from other users. Which is easier and (potentially) less bias than non fansite owners simply providing their own limited opinions.
Fffs people complain that badges mean nothing anymore and then snap out when certain people get badges that no others could get (which consequently gives the badge more meaning as its rarer , thus destroying their original argument??)
Think I'm sensing jealousy

Not jealous no, annoyed that I wasn't given the opportunity to even apply. And yes it's just a badge, but some people such as myself collect them - so we view it as unfair when badges get given out without everyone having the opportunity to try and get it. There's plenty of badges I've missed out on - but I had the opportunity to get them so it's not that big a deal. The fact you've said "pretty sure I have been playing much longer" is a sure indication that you're simply jealous and upset that you never received the badge. Don't see the issue with new users testing things, they're just as able to report bugs as others. Can understand the furniture aspect, but they can restrict the system and only let habbos with a certain number of hours / items to participate.
Don't try and compare this to building a room, seriously - just don't. It's not in the same league. It never will be. Building a room takes hours of design decisions, and testing out different things. Mindlessly dropping items in a box is no where near as skilled or challenging.
What's wrong in being jealous of people getting the badges
Hell yeah I am jealous
anyway
me when I miss a badge
