Default Platinum Jubilee - 70 years - of Queen Elizabeth II

Platinum Jubilee (70 years) of Queen Elizabeth II

On the 6th February 2022, Queen Elizabeth II, of Britain , Canada , Australia , New Zealand , Jamaica , Papua New Guinea , the Bahamas , Belize , Antiqua and Barbuda , Grenada , St Kitts and Nevis , St Lucia , St Vincent and the Grenadines , the Solomon Islands and Tuvalu , will celebrate 70 years as monarch

On 6th February this year Her Majesty The Queen will become the first British and Commonwealth Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth.

To celebrate this unprecedented anniversary, events and initiatives will take place throughout the year, culminating in a four day UK bank holiday weekend from Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th June. The bank holiday will provide an opportunity for communities and people throughout the United Kingdom to come together to celebrate the historic milestone. Australia, New Zealand, Canada and other realms will also hold celebrations throughout the year.

The four days of celebrations in Britain will include public events and community activities, as well as national moments of reflection on The Queen’s 70 years of service.

The then-25-year-old Queen Elizabeth II ascended to the throne on the 6th February 1952 while on holiday in the then-British colony of Kenya, after the death of her father King George VI at the age of 56 in the early hours of the morning.

She is currently the world's 4th longest verifiable reigning monarch in history behind Prince Johann II of Lietenstein (3rd), King Rama IX of Thailand (2nd) and King Louis XIV of France (1st). If she is still reigning on 27th May 2024, she will over take King Louis XIV of France to become the world's longest verified reigning monarch in world history. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...gning_monarchs

Her first British Prime Minister was Sir Winston Churchill while the American President Harry S. Truman was still in the White House.
Well this is going to be a pretty big milestone. GSTQ!

I'm pretty annoyed I will miss out on the long bank holiday weekend in June as I am in Spain then!

Her Majesty The Queen is at Sandringham House now ahead of tomorrow when she will reach 70 years on the throne.

This clip was taken at Windsor Castle around last week when she was shown items from the archives from her own previous jubilees, and that of Queen-Empress Victoria.
