Perhaps the most interesting thing about Olympic gymnastics (and also those of the World Cups that happen in the transition time between one Olympiad and another, but that being little noticed!) it that this is one of those types of sports / competitions that a person watches and root for the athletes without thinking too much which country he or she represents; the most exciting part of which is to follow the athlete's performance and, in a certain way, feel the same anxiety and "fear of making a mistake" that thousands of people and, especially, the gymnasts themselves feel
I always like to highlight a person who were spectacular and legend in this sport! Olga Korbut is said to be one of the people responsible for making Olympic gymnastics popular on television (even for those who are not so experienced on the subject) because of their sympathy and brilliance in particular; even her most basic dance steps were done in an original and brilliant way. Although, really, in the past, gymnastic routines (floor, mainly) were made with a very higher influence on ballet
But hey, regardless of whether you root for an athlete in particular or not, or just a particular "segment" of gymnastics, who/what is your favorite one?
