Default First Medal of the Games

We just managed to get gold in the road cycling, looked doubtful as she fell back at the bottom of the last hill but she pulled it back

GB's 200th ever gold and wales first since 1973, we're upto 7th in the medal tables now.

Nicole Cooke claimed Britain's first gold medal of the Beijing Olympics by winning a thrilling women's road race.
The 25-year-old from Wales timed her finish to perfection, edging ahead of Emma Johansson and Tatiana Guderzo in the sprint to the line.
Cooke finished in a time of three hours, 32 minutes and 24 seconds to become Britain's first Olympic medallist in this event.

Good news, and I suspect this is just the first of several that the cycling team will win
It's the quality of your posts that count, not the quantity!

Dignity does not consist in possessing honours, but in deserving them.

She did brilliantly, she ****** it up at the last corner and was last in the pack but sprinted very well to take home the gold.

Mark Cavendish ans Bradley Wiggins will win gold. Cav is the fastest man in the world. He absolutely blitzed the field in the Tour de France. The track cycliists are good aswell with Chris Hoy, Wiggins, Cav, Pendleton, Romero and that BMX girl.
