    Post England vs Austria (7.30pm)

    Preview:
On Saturday September 4th, England will begin their quest for World Cup glory with the first of 10 qualifiers. England's fine performance against Ukraine will have given Sven Goran Eriksson plenty of options for midfield.

    Team News:
Michael Owen and the in-form Alan Smith are expected to lead the front line, with David Beckham, Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard all poised for a place in midfield with one other place available for either Kieron Dyer, Shaun Wright-Phillips and Jermaine Jenas to fulfill. The defence will consist of John Terry, G. Neville, Ledley King and Ashley Cole. Heskey failed to make the squad and gave way to Tottenham sensation Jermaine Defoe who is bound to be substituted later on in the game.

    Prediction:

    England 2 - 0 Austria

    Last Meeting:

    England 3 - 4 Austria

    Conclusion:
Will England make a good start to their World Cup 2006 campaign? We certainly hope so... as far as Beckham is concerned, anything but a win and 3 points is unacceptable.

    Have You Say...

    Result:

    England 2 - 2 Austria

In my opinion it was a ghastly performance, England took the lead in bizarre fashion but managed to concede twice in 2 minutes.
