I have over 8gig of photos so a memory stick is out the window.

Can anyone recommend/link me to some cheap portable HDD?

Well they do 16GB Memory sticks quite cheap (Under £20). They also do 32GB Memory Sticks but they're about £50, so not cheap but very small.

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-Externa.../dp/B002XGWZVQ - £25, very portable, 30GBs
    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/195290 - £30, portable, 80GBs

That looks like a pretty good deal. There was a blue one on amazon but it was about the same price with the case.
