Do you believe watching porn at a young age can have a psychological affect in later life or affect a REAL sex life due to fantasy?

Statistics were broadcasted on an Irish tv show stating that porn is also heavily related to sexual offences. Do you believe there is a heavy link between the two?

    No.

I personally don't think so, I don't watch porn with some black guy and a 13 inch penis and think 'oh he's an inch bigger than me I must be small', nor do see a wish to act out any scene that I've seen in a porno..

It might make people hornier but that's about it imho.

There are people out there who take porn as though it were an instructional device, but that will happen with any work of fiction - just look at how many people thought the stuff in The DaVinci Code was real or who think Mr Darcy is an actual image of Regency gentlemen. For the most part I'm sure people are able to tell the difference between life and screen, especially with regards to the more violent imagery around. People who have violent tendencies are more likely to be into violent porn, not the other way around

Yes people are predisposed to violence are more likely to be into violent porn but there is no denying that with the age people start looking at porn getting lower an lower coupled with the ever expanding pool of genres, people are going to get bored an desensitised to certain kinds of porn and eventually broaden their horizons in order to get the same level of satisfaction. People who start watching porn younger will grow more an more depraved in their porn viewing habits , meaning they will have far greater expectations from sex in later life -- violent or otherwise.

As a sports fan I didn't start off with tiddlywinks and steadily increase the violent thrill all the way to bareknuckle boxing, and as a porn connoisseur I didn't begin with googling "boobies" (I did really) and then end up watching snuff films and gore. Getting desensitised to screen violence is not the same as developing a craving for it, surely the opposite if anything since it's simply not of interest

So you get off by googling boobies still I take it? I'm not suggesting that enjoying nudity will lead straight to furious master bation over someone being beheaded with eels coming out of every orifice but rather that as we age our taste does develop and because we start so young there is a risk of a longer developmental period and thus more varied taste. Not necessarily a taste for violent porn, just things that aren't typical in the bedroom that may lead to unfulfilled expectations and sexual frustration.

Yeah boobs are great, and in the scheme of things a year or two difference isn't going to matter at all unless you're suggesting that everyone over the age of 40 is a violently frustrated deviant

The teenage years are the most influential on development of personal preference :p

I think it really depends on the person and how much context they have while growing up. For me, I started seeing porn pretty young and yeah, it did shape some of my ideas about sex in the beginning. But once I started having actual experiences, the fantasy and reality naturally separated. If someone doesn’t have proper sex education or open conversations along the way, it could definitely mess with expectations.

That said, I think as long as you know it's entertainment and not a guide, it doesn’t have to be harmful. Exploring different fantasies can be fun too, especially through stuff like the kinkyquests ios sex games collection which gives a pretty varied perspective without things getting too serious.
