Default How has your life changed in the last 5 years

obviously at the moment there are a lot of habboxers appearing who haven’t been on here for a long while. I’m sure everyones lives have changed a lot since we all last spoke/caught up whether it’s school/uni/jobs/partners/pets/hometown so where are you at now compared to 5 years ago ??? what’s changed?

im getting all my duck Facebook memories from 7 years ago and they actually make me want to die lol how did I have friends (on the plus side I was on 13 so I can forgive myself but honestly if you guys saw these posts lol)

Oh gosh, those memories from time hop are so embarrassing!

I didn't have children 5 years ago, so I was going out a lot. Eating out, late nights, watching lots of Netflix, and lots of after work drinks.

Loved life then, but I love my life now for different reasons

I feel like we need to see these posts now Gina!

5 years ago I didn't own my own home, I wasn't in the same job as I am now, and I was in a relationship, whereas now I'm not lol.
I was also surprisingly 5 years younger lol

There's another shooting today, and this one was bad
I'm glad that we all hope and pray, but it takes more than that
We've been trying, we've been crying
Hoping that they will do more than keep lying
I need to believe that people can change
Or else this life has all been in vain
What's the point of fighting if we're fighting for a lie?

5 years ago i think i'd just finished Uni

since then i'm now working abroad for past 2 years which i never thought i'd do but i'm not happy there, lost a grandparent recently, don't read books anymore, nan is developing dementia, hangovers last 2 to 3 days nowadays. the decline from age 16.

two upsides though have been that i still have my hair and i've done lots of travelling.

i'm honestly back to my 17 year old self, staying home all day playing video games and running away from my mental health problems lmaoooo.
moved here 5 years ago with my then boyfriend, been here ever since, had several different jobs and thankfully have got myself a decent enough wage in a great company with lots of opportunities, working on a really exciting project with lots of services involved.
had a 4.5 relationship and then a 1.5 year relationship (plus 9 months of courting) so first time being single and getting to know myself again. once this lockdown is over i'll be back to my party days and independence, and hopefully my next relationship will be a final. that's if i don't die of covid first which is looking likely.
so lots of big changes but ultimately some things are always the same

5 years ago ...don't even remember what I was up to back then, can't have been much important!
Since then I've been a manager at Greggs, worked at a bank and now I'm a phlebotomist with the NHS. I've had two long-ish term relationships, even moved in with a guy for two years (before realising Gina was right and he's a total youknowwhat).
Tbh though I haven't really done anything other than hospital stints, I've had two ops, countless procedures and I've now just come out of hospital after two months! My life has been dominated by health boohoo but I'm now hopefully on the right track with half a diagnosis so that part of my life should now be in the past!
I have definitely grown up from how I was 5 years ago though, looking back at posts and memories etc yeah I get it I understand why people weren't particularly fond of me haha

Once lockdown is up planning on going back to uni and getting life back on track

lets see 5 years ago I was a fat lazy selfish **** who was completely addicted to computer games, I was probably still addicted to Habbox back then lmao

I was a few years into a relationship and got my first job, so moved to the area where I got my job with her, had no real friends irl and didn't socialise with anyone other than gf (if you could call that socialising??)

5 years later I'm just a fat **** (I exercise 6 days a week tho so its acceptable) but I don't play games at all now

In another relationship and earn 4-5x what I did back then (still deserve more tbf), bought my first house, have loads of friends irl and socialise a lot.

Your duck obsession was cute Gina, aww you can tell how much you've changed just from that sentence alone now you're so embarrassed by it. haha

5 years ago I was unemployed and it is very soul-destroying when you feel like you've got something to offer but not being able to prove it. If we use 5 years exactly, I'm only 2 months away from finally getting a job. A job I love and still doing now. It's not quite the same during this lockdown as I do like talking to friends at work. We have the craziest and funniest conversations.

I would say the biggest change for me personally is how I'm finally starting to break away from my comfort zone. I no longer use my laptop to play habbo or runescape where I convinced myself that it was like socialising in a way. Now I only use my laptop to watch TV, it means if I want to socialise, I actually have to go do something. It means that I am now more likely to say yes to invites out to parties and whatnot when I used to avoid them like the plague. I'm not exactly a social butterfly just yet but it's probably the biggest change in my life compared to 5 years ago.

5 yrs ago i was 22, doing a masters course, in a relationship, living in the uk, not really doing much but still happy

now i'm working a job i really enjoy, moved in with my incredible bf and my best friend, a lot more outgoing. my bf pushes me to do things out of my comfort zone and go socialise when i don't want to haha, but in the end i'm glad i do it
