Britain and India sign FTA

Britain, the world's 5th largest economy, and her former colony India, the world's 6th largest economy, agree a Free Trade Deal

🇬🇧🇮🇳 Today I signed the UK-India Enhanced Trade Partnership with my friend @PiyushGoyal. Together, we have committed to:

👉Negotiating a comprehensive free trade deal, starting this autumn
👉More than doubling trade by 2030

Today we announced 39 UK-India export & investment deals.

Our goal is to strike a future trade deal and double UK-India trade by 2030.

Fantastic news, especially as India is notorious (less so under the current Modi Ministry) for regulation and trade barriers.

But that's not all.

Britain has now signed over 90 FTAs as an independent trading nation, and is close to becoming the country in the world with the most FTAs.

The UK is not so far off being able to say it has more trade agreements than anyone else, so you’re all going to need to emotionally prepare yourself for that.
