Leak suggests government will postpone Net Zero ban on petrol cars

Reports suggest the government will move the 2030 ban on petrol cars and gas boilers out to 2035

I think I predicted this a few weeks ago to @dbgtz; in an offhand comment that petrol cars weren't going anywhere soon and here we are.

Seemingly Sunak isn't quite as useless as first thought, although a postponement on reality of a mere 5 years isn't much to congratulate him over. The fact is that our government, supported by the equally boneheaded opposition, can legislate mad green policies all they want which only outsources jobs and production to the Orient, but all the legislation in the world can't change reality. And the reality is, just as water cannot be made to run uphill, gas/oil/coal usage are here to stay for many decades to come no matter how much public money the government throws at useless renewables.

As a side note on energy policy to show just how badly our politicians run things, I came across a video clip of Sir Nick Clegg when he was Deputy PM in 2011 saying how he was ruling out building a new generation of nuclear power plants as they would take a decade to build. And ten years later we found ourselves in an energy and inflation crisis when new reactors could've been coming online to shield us from global energy price hikes. The incompetence and short-sightedness of the political class on all sides is just staggering.

    Thoughts?
