Anyone ever wonder this? A few days ago, me and a few people from school were talking about how bad some music today is getting, and how bad it may get in the future. I started to think about it more today, and how much different can music possibly get? How many more genres are possible? I cant imagine how much harder rock can get since we already have bands that scream all the way through the song with 3 guitars playing the same cord over and over as hard as they can through the song, how much more is possible? I dont know how much less talented you can be in the future to make it in music. Im going to try to keep up with new music as much as I can as time goes on. What do you guys think?

Answer:
Wannabe rock bands, wannabe rappers, wannabe disney stars getting contracts, and stars siblings getting contracts.

um...its like that already and has been for a long time. real music died out a few years ago. Rarely do you see true love and engery in rock music now n days. Stick to local bands if you want an honest love of music

I guess the big selling industry in the US is hip hop so maybe a new genre of that. In terms of rock I could see it going more pop, or for real heavy metal bands i think it may just stay the same with maybe new concepts introduced.

Ooer I was thinking about this the other day too, because someone asked me who's my favourite band at the moment, and I realised I have barely any interest in recent music!
There's only a few tracks around lately when I think 'Yay, someone decent'.

It will probably die out for us, you know how it's common for old people to only enjoy the type of music they listened to as youngsters, or maybe they are just stuborn to admit that they didn't grow up to best music, anyway, it'll probably just become like that for us.

I've also wondered this many'a times.

Yes, some Pop music is torture to your ears, and I bet from the past 5 years, you could probabely see a decrease in the quality of music.

I think that the majority of music artists now days are in the buisiness for money, fame, glory and reputation. Tis sad really when you think about it, this means that the music they produce is meaningless, they don't put much dedication towards the track, only thinking about how much money it would make them.
If all the common musicians think like this, then yes, I pretty much think music will deteriate through time, leaving the talented artists to enlighten us :)

I agree with NekkLe that most artists are only in the trade for the fame/money etc. This is proven that some artistis are so eager to sue people downloading there produce illeagely.

Really? Hmm, I can only think of a few albums that have came out that I have really liked. Foo Fighters, Audioslave, Coldplay, the White Stripes was okay, not as good as their last, Institute was good, Im having trouble thinking of more though. Maybe this year wasent so bad, but there has been a lot of completely bad stuff coming out this year. I think thats what gets me, there has been so much bad music coming out this year, it basicly cancelles out the good music.

That kinda makes it sound like you are in it for the fame. No offence.

^^

I've only bought 2 albulms this year, I guess I could buy more but I really can't be bothered.
But I can't see alot of the mainstream music amusing me this year if its going to be like it has been for this year.

Why does it? I'm only joking around. Anyway, my band aren't in it for fame, we just have a laugh :)

Well...I thas been great for The UK and Ireland lol. With Maximo Park, The Ordinary Boys (even though their debut came out in 2004 I think) The Futureheads, Institute, Garbage's comeback, Feeder's new album and the sucess of LAMB I guess. It's been great for me :).

Oh, okay. I dont know, you just kind of made it sound like you were going to be famous soon. I dont know. Lol.

Hmmm, I guess its been okay this year. Maybe I was thinking of movies this year, because movies this year have been bad too. All remakes. BACK ON TOPIC!

I dont think there will be a new version of hip hop (How? Hmm, I dont see how you can talk in to a microphone differently). I actually think rap/hip hop will die out in a decade or so. Because there are so many kids these days that want to be rappers, and becoming a rapper is so much easier than anything else in music. You dont need to learn an instrument, you dont need a band, you really dont need anything but a few bucks. Then when EVERYONE has their own CD, it wont be cool anymore. It would all sound the same. Like what happened to disco, everyone finnally relized disco was all the same song, just a drum and high pitched guitar and a lady telling you what dance to do:rolleyes:

^^ Wah?

I'll agree with the movie part, they've been terrible, nothing much has made me want to go and watch one?

Maybe different genre's of music are doing well and others arn't? I know that Hip Hop hasn't been too bad, but nothing special.

I was wondering this coz most of my favourite bands have already split and i was wondering who would i support when the rest of them gave up? This thought actually horrified me!

Ahaha the future of music.
To be perfectly honest I don't know the current state of music is, if I find a band I like I download all of their songs and stuff and most of the albums are like years old..
i dont know what year I'm listening to stuff.. the song I'm listening to now was released back in 2001.
I think its kind of that way with rock music, because once people hook onto a band they go onto their older stuff and like yeah.
-shrug- Ive actually lost the train of thought I was on then.

It's actually a good time for music right now and by that I mean the music right now is **** but there's gonna be another indie revolution which I'm all for. Happens about every 10 years.

Pretty much every genre of music comes in, then leaves about 4 years later with a new one. You just have to wait it out til the next one comes along and hope that's it's good.

Im trying to think of an original sound, if Im going to form a band, I need something different then what every band sounds like today. So many bands today sound exactly the same.

It's hard to do. I just play how I like and luckily what I like doesn't sound like anything out there right now. I've been listening to a lot of Pogues again so I've been incorporating that into my newer songs.
