Bad idea! Asways have all you 3 meals. Cut down on binge eating, I have and I feel better. Stop yourself when you go to the biscuit tin or the fridge, it doesn't make that much difference and maybe a jog or a cycle each day? Ease yourself in to it, don't leap in or things will go bad. Don't diet to much and allow yourself to grow, your soon even out :)

There are now diets that recuire you to eat 5 meals a day. Breakfast, snack, Lunch, Snack and Dinner. Pritty cool but u have to drink water and nothing else and all the meals have to be healthy.

A good tip is to eat slowly. Don't gulp all your food down in one go. Just take your time chewing slowly.

Good point! Buy foods that allow you to chew them, don't buy that mushy yuck that you gulp down in one, stock up on fruit!

1 - It's not good for you
2 - I doubt your doctor said that and if he did it must have been weeks before/after you stopped then started again
3 - Breakfast is the most important meals of the day
4 - Missing a meal mostly results in snacking
5 - And you let slip you skipped two meals sometimes, Watch out you could be turning anorexic.
6 - COOL OFF THE CAPS.

First of all DO NOT MISS OUT ANY MEALS !
That's actually quite silly , especially if you miss out breakfast , I suggest you don't as your body then takes any food you eat after the breakfast period and turns it to fat .

Monitor your eating levels and what your eating , write it down and at the end of the week look over what you've eaten.. write down EVERYTHING . Look at the chart and think 'what could i cut down or get rid of or change to make it healthier' Such as cutting out all fatty , salty ,
sugary snacks .

I suggest that you stick to healthy carbohydrates , your body can run on carbohydrates and try drinking ONLY water and attempt to eat a lot of things like whole meal bread with FIBRE which , you can detox your body slightly with the water and fibre and it will make you healthier and you'll feel a LOTTTTTTT better .

Exercise as much as possible , try to stay off any fatty , sugary , salty snacks and foods , cut down on what you eat and just look after yourself :)

1) eat breakfast, lunch and dinner.. NEVER skip them
2) Try not to snack. If you need to go for healthy foods like fruit
3) Instead of playing on the computer some days.. take a run
4) Try not to drink soda. Try to drink juice or water.

Just do that for a while. It works :D

I read in your profile that you're 14. So I would advise you not to diet, it's not safe at that age, you're still growing and you might just have a bit of a puppy fat.

I'm a vegetarian and it keeps me slim, I know I said don't 'diet' but being a vegetarian isn't looked on as a weight loss plan, simply because it's so healthy (and you're saving the animals!).

Skipping a meal is NOT a bad idea. To loose weight you basically have to know when you are actually hungry. For example, I used to wake up in the morning and think "I'm not really hungry, but I'm supposed to eat breakfast so I better had" YOU DON'T NEED TO EAT IT IF YOU'RE NOT HUNGRY. If your not hungry when it comes to dinner, don't eat it. Don't just eat because you think you have to to make you healthy!

Also, a common mistake dieters make is when it comes to eating, they might be an apple and a chocolate bar, and they think "Oh I should eat the apple" even though they want the chocolate bar. Feeding you body what it doesn't want will not fulfil your hungar, therefore you'll want something else to eat. FEED your body what it wants and when it wants. It can hard to stop eating when you don't need to, but before you have something to eat you need to get into the habit of saying to yourself, "Am I really hungry?"
And there is no such thing as a high metabolism or low, or whatever.
You do need to exercise and keep fit. Don't over-do exercise, do what you can but you should gradually increase.

If you miss meals your body stores up more fat as the body can see the changes occuring.

If someone was actually hungry and they skipped a meal, then YES it would be bad for you.
But whats the point, say for e.g, eating your dinner if your not even hungry??!! There isn't a point! And if any excess fat is produced, burn it off! Get off you **** and do something!

You took it the wrong way when I said I skip meals, I only do it because I wasn't hungry. I sometime ate because I was bored, I then realised that and cut back. When I get up, Im not hungry, so why should you have to eat?

I don't see HOW that is wrong, but, by cutting back I lost weight. OBVIOUSLY you have to do daily exercise, how are you suppose to lose weight by just sitting there? If you did it wouldn't be alot anyway.

You don't need to diet unless you are unhealthy underweight. I suggest you take the BMI test, if it say you're a healthy weight.. don't diet. You don't NEED to especially at your age.

SORRY if I offended anyone with my comment I made about skipping meals, I just didn't word it properly.

(When your on a diet you want to avoid it -.-). When you eat something that is very sugary, it quicky goes into your blood stream. But then your body produces insulen and wipes out traces of sugar. Leaving you hungry again. What do you do? Maybe eat another chocolate bar? The cycle begins. Apples have natural sugar, but it isnt something bad like chocolate. Id rather choose the Apple

Hmm.. I don't believe in dieting though, so I wouldn't want to avoid the chocolate bar.
And the cycle your taking about, it's like your saying you could eat so many chocolate bars after each other, and not feel full or sick?

And to whoever's thread this is, the only reliable way to loose weight is to exercise and go to the gym. Most dieters think they can just eat healthy and thats it, but really the only successful way is to burn it off. And if some people don't like going to the gym or can't, maybe try them exercise videos?

There is such thing as a metabolism. :/
Don't cut out your favourite foods, just limit them, you're more likely to succeed that way.
I recommend you cut out carbohydrates and eat healthily, I've been doing so for the last 5 days and already lost 4 pounds.

What I ate today

- Breakfast: Scrambled egg, 2 tomatoes and some bacon.

- Lunch: Salad; Turkey slices, tomato, cucumber, lettace and feta cheese and a low fat yogurt.

- Dinner: Chicken Breast with the same salad I had at lunch but with peppers.

- Snacks: Banana and apple.

Eating three filling, healthy meals a day will keep your body satisfied, I find that it also stops me from eating any food nasties.

-------------------------------

Sazzle, why would you eat everything your body wants? You body needs food, it's your mind that feels the want.
I'd like to have a tub of ice-cream for dinner, and kit-kats for breakfast, but I don't, because I know that's not what my body needs, it's what my mind wants.
Also, it is possible to just diet and lose weight, I go to the gym 3-4 times and week for an hour, but my mum is doing the same diet and still seeing results.
Yes, give yourself a treat, but don't eat chocolate bars all the time because you want them.

Practice what your preach Sazzle.

Err, I didn't say there was not such thing as a metabolism..I said theres no such thing as a low/high metabolism. I also didn't say it was impossible to loose weight without exercising I said, "the only reliable way to loose weight is to exercise and go to the gym" if someone goes to the gym often to burn it off 9/10 times it will work, therefore its reliable. Not exercising when dieting is not reliable, yet it can still work. I never stated it couldn't?? Please correct me if I did.

I read this book about loosing weight, kinda like those mind ones to help quit smoking. It makes a lot of sense. And yes it's your mind which controls what your body eats, so you've got to train your mind.
I've never had a weight issue so I wouldnt know how to diet. I've been brought up in an environment where my mum makes me eat healthy foods (which I don;t mind) and I've got an interest in sport from my dad, which I do regulary. So, if people don't beleive what I preach then fair enough, I don't really care.

Most dieters think they can just eat healthy and thats it, but really the only successful way is to burn it off
The way you worded it made it seem like you were saying exercise is the only way to see changes in your weight.
Of course exercise will aid the dieting process, and the chances of weight loss are higher, but dieting and exercise alone are both reliable.

I play soccer, my dad is a bit of a health freek food wise, so my lifestyle is simular to your own, I don't have a weight problem either.
So why would I disagree with you? Well, I didn't like how you advised people to skip meals or eat what they want when they want, if healthy eating was enforced in your home, you wouldn't skip meals and so on.
Speak what you know, if you'd said 'Take an interest in a sport, get involved in a local team, eat healthily..bla bla bla', there would have been nothing to fault with that.

You've twisted what I said. I did say earlier, it's not healthy for someone to skip a meal for the sake of it. I said that if your not hungry don't feel that you have to eat the meal. Some tips for weight loss:

- Do at least 30 minutes exercise every day
- Eat your 5-a-day Regieme
- Cut down on the snacks
- Get involved more in school clubs E.G Football, Badminton, Tennis etc..

I stopped eating breakfast a year ago. its sickening for me to eat in the morning, so i dont. i dont snack to make up for it either.
iv lost weight and my health is better for it.
basically. the girl that said skip a meal.. it can work, so long as you always skip that meal and dont snack for it.
however it wont work if you skip breakfast every other day.. your body will store everything else you eat as fat to make up for the meal you skip. the days you dont skip - then that meal will also be converted to fat.

but really.. we all know the best thing to do is exercise and stop eating bad bad BAD food.. dont try to stop all your cravings at once.

oh and heres a bit of advice, if you ever want a snack, have a glass of water instead.. its easy to mistake hunger as thirst.

Starving yourself is the least you want to do..eat healthy and exercise, thats the simplest way you can put it.
If I ever eat a snack like a piece iof chocolate, I makesure I eat astleast 1-2 pieces of fruit after keeping a sort of balance in what I eat. I wouldn't go too crazy, its normal iof a teenage to look a little chubby, your growing, your body will shape out when your closing in on the age of 16-17 depending on how fast you grow..
Exercise is hard to keep up with if your busy, so to prevent some of that matter, try walking to your school/place of work, it helps loose weight and its something that requires little effort.

Did you know dieting is the biggest cause of putting on weight, althogh its downplayed since it makes some people so much money.

Its kinda obvios why. If you dont feed your body what it wants, it then slows your metablism down, as i thinks theres a lack of food, then whenever you do eat anything, a large amount of it is stored to fat, so it has a bigger reserve. And less is used by your body so you feel weeker.
At the end of a diet when u return to eating again, you will put on waight as much as 20 times faster.

So as you can tell dieting realy does work *cough*

Otherwise why would people go on one and loose weight and stay skinny. Not everyone does the same diets so you can't really say "they don't work" because they do work for most people.

If you vary your calorie intake daily, e.g 1800 calories a day on monday and 1000 on tuesday, I believe that helps you loose weight.
Something to do with your body preparing to take in 1800 calories, but the it takes in 800 less, so you lose body fat.

- Try and have a well balanced diet - Less junk food, more good food etc

-Get in as much excersize as possible!

When you say lose weight, do you mean spare tires or physical weight? If you exercise, Muscle is hevyer than fat so if you weigh yourself you may be even hevyer
