how the UK school systems work

i see people post 5th year and year 7 and stuff. what do they mean.

here in america its

kindergarten - young uns
1st grade
2nd grade
3rd grade
4th grade
5th grade
6th grade
7th grade
8th grade
9th grade (freshman)
10th grade (sophmore)
11th grade (junior)
12th grade (senior)

COLLEGE

13th (freshman)
14th (sophmore)
15th (junior)
16th (senior)

and then it goes on depending on what degree you want.

in a doctorates degree you go all the way to 24th GRADE!

year 3 age 7-8
year 4 age 8-9
year 5 age 9-10
year 6 age 10-11

high school

year 7 age 11-12
year 8 age 12-13

year 10 age 14-15
year 11 age 15-16

college/6th form

year 11/lower 6th age 16-17
year 12/upper 6th age 17-18

and then university.

England is different though.

years are like.. 1 number above grades.

eg :

grade 6 would be year 7
grade 7 would be year 8
grade 8 would be year 9
grade 9 would be year 10

etc...

not really, we're pretty straighthrough alike.
we both have grades, and after grade 12, it's college/university.

And also Education in England is compulsory up untill Year 11 (15/16) after that you can get a job, or go to college to then go to university xD

Lower school
Reception

Year four

Middle school
Year five
Year six
Year seven
Year eight

Upper school
Year nine
Year ten
Year eleven
Year 12&13

Three-tier system was so much better<3 bringitbackty.

It different all over the UK I think..

We have first school (years reception-year 2)
Middle school (years 3-6)
High school ( years 7-11)

Firstly, I have been joined longer than you, secondly, I got cautioned for 'constant rule breaking' which can no way be interrupted by this thread and finally I am not Siberian, I am British, but I will be reporting that post for the fact it contains a racist comment, thank you.
