Well, EVERY day at School, I get attacked of some sort and come home with bruses etc., and I have been getting depresed about it.
And I have had 5 Days off cos of Depresion, and Education welfere are fining my mum £50. Isnt Depresion a illness and a reason to be off school?
And arnt Education Welfere ment to prevent these things from happening and sort it out.

Also, the school know about this and havent done anything about it.

It does seem a little harsh, for a reason like that, I don't see how they can find you so soon, well on assumption it's quite early, or have you missed a lot of school in the past few weeks? Have you thought about seeking specialist help to solve the depression, maybe you should write to the Education Welfare explaining the full situation and how you or they can prevent it.

I don't think your Mum should be fined, she has done nothing wrong and is obviously worried about you which is why she has kept you off school to protect you. I agree with Robo in that you should perhaps think about seeking professional help and your Mum should explain the situation to the Welfare officers because she shouldnt have been fined.

You should have a talk to the principal about this. Anyway, I don't think its appropriate for them to fine your mother. You should appeal. Getting attacked is quite serious and should be dealt with.

Say you were ill like you had tonselitus or something?

Also ye, you have to phone up the school otherwise it's un authorised abscene. I used to be off school alot for crap reasons, but my Mum authorised it by ringing up and said I had some illneess.

Is their an education welfair officer in your scholl? If there is go see them, and you can have problems dealt with seriously. And i do think the fine is harsh. Couldant you get a doctors note to show them?

Also, education welfare officer shouldn't really get involved unless you have been at school for only 85% of the time, and all of the days you were off was un authorized. I got warned about it and all.

Have you told them the reason why you were off? If not you could get an authorised absence still.

Yep, shes rang in all the time and said I am depressed and get headaches from it, and they say well the only way they can sort it is if im at school so its a un authorised absence.

i had trouble with depression and i had like 60% over the whole year. they sorted it out at the begging of this year and my attendance isnt perfect but its about 75-80% and i want to get it to 90% or more and im not depressed anymore

Yeah. In year 7 I had 67% attendence right and they aint fined my mum yet. Tbh ethier your not telling us somthing or your schools a general **** hole.

Get the rubbish sorted first then your mum should demand her money back.

Lol, his school isn't a **** hole if they're concerned about his attendance. Yours is. 67% is crazy.... if your school didn't follow that up to the welfare officer, it is really a crap school.

She probably won't get fined if she explains your situation throughly.

If you haven't been to see your doctor yet I really urge you to do so. Discuss your situation with him, explain how you feel, and then you'll also have a doctor to back-up why you are off... he may even be able to suggest ways you can feel better. :)

You don't get a mental record, lol. It would probably be recorded on your medical records... but only if you're prescribed something or if the doctors thinks you are actually depressed. It may just be that you're simply feeling down because of your situation.

Good luck!
