Hey, I'm wanting to get some weights as I have had this kind of, "spur" to get fit so I was wondering:
Where's the best place to get them (reliable and best deals)?
Then following the above:
Metal weights or dumbbells(sp?)?
I'm leaning to metal cause you can adjust them etc. But yeah... :)

Well it looks like you are a "beginner" to weightlifting so I'd say dumb-bells just for whilst you learn it all and they usually have some leaflets with the methods/tips! Argos had some pretty good dumb-bells a few years ago, where I got my first set from. They're pretty good and durable but I've now moved onto proper weights!

i might do this too tbh
i'm gonna check ebay :8
if you are 10-16 i strongly reccomend do not use anything more than just plain weights nothing more tthan the link you posted
reason pretty obviously that its not good for you during that age because thats the ages when your devoloping the most so stick with them should be fine

I might buy the ones where you use water to control how heavy it is.

Sam if you're just beginning dnt you think 15kg and 20kg is too heavy?
That's like 15/20 bags of sugar
Tristan

Lol. With weights, most have these adjustable weights. You're looking at the max amount. :P
So the top one that I want, has 4 x 0.5 & 8 x 1.25. So, you can have:
1 0.5 on left and 1 0.5 on right making it 1kg.
Then you can add or take off as much as you want. :P

i wouldnt suggest any of them, i have the 2nd one the 20kg ones and ive been doing them for nearly a year but if your going to take the weights off the first one then yeah but i think you should get different ones then build it up

But surely if I can lift 2kg (which I can), and I can adjust them slowly by about .5, then it would be saving money? Rather than buying sets each time, that would cost quite a bit more? && the second one is the 20kg one...

Buy ones you can adjust as i increase mine evry week or few days when using them
Jamie!

i've just been going to gym and using the weights there, but its started to cost a fair bit to go often.
might buy some myself like.

o i didn't read it properly i didn't think it was an adjustable one
Tristan

Yeah, I think that they're adjustable...
The spinlock collar thing makes it so, yeah?

They are not that good because you can't adjust the weights, as once you have used the maximum one there then they are pointless as you will have to go buy more.
