Well, this orthadontist woman said if I wanted treatment (a brace) I would have to have both wistom teeth on either side on my top jaw taken out - and im like, oe em ge.

So does it like hurt getting a tooth taken out?
Apparently it only takes like 2 minutes tho :S

Ive had 2 teeth out, It didn't hurt at all completely numb :)

It's still numb for a few hours after you have had it done :D

May ache the next day, but it's not painful at all.. Nothing to worry about :) Good luck :D

it depends. mine hurt cuz it was a huge tooth, the dentist was pushing on my head and pullign on the plyers.

but its worth it to have straight teeth, trust me.

Cheers guys, I think I am gonna have it done, but my mum wants to speak to my actual dentist to find out why 2 perfectly healthy teeth have to be removed, because this other orthadentist said nothing about it, nor did my actual dentist.

In it for the money they are.

having the injection thing in your gum hurts more than having the tooth out

Really?

Is it the same injection they use when your having fillings and that?

Omg. You've got it easy mate! Grr. Y'see im currently awaiting for an appointment from the hospital because I have to be put to sleep when Im getting my treatment done, 'cause everytime I go I have panic attacks, and last time I was injected I fainted. LOL. So I have to be sent to the hospital. Anyway, I gotta have 3 teeth extracted, 2 from the bottom back, 1 on the top. 7 fillings are needed, and I might need Root treatment or something. + then on top of all that, once thats done I gotta get braces. You're scared? Im scared! But like someone already said, its better to have straight teeth. Thats the thing thats keeping me going. :]

All I can say is, good luck, and dont worry too much yeah.

Btw, has anyone else heard that you know that injection you normally have to numb your gums etc. The stuff injected is cocaine? Thats the reason why they ask you've taken any medication in the last 24 hours, 'cause you can go all wierd. :O!

I couldn't say myself because I haven't had teeth out, I've had injections in my mouth before though and I personally thought they hurt a fair bit but at the end of the day the treatment you're going to be getting is going to be worth it in the long run.

My mate had his wisdom teeth out, he went to hospital for it. He got lots of pain medication because its very painful afterwards, during the operation though they would be numb.
And its not the point of having perfectly health teeth removed its to do with them growing awkardly and moving around the other teeh in your jaw.
During the operation you won't have anything to worry about, you'll probably be under a local.

Doesn't hurt if you're numbed. I wasn't numbed properly so it hurt abit , make sure for weeks after swirl salted water around your mouth twice a day. It may sting but it helps the wound fix :)

I had an operation to remove two misplace teeth on which were affecting my speech. It took 20 minutes for the operation to be done.

BTW mate, they gave me a tablet on which you can become relaxed, everyone is scared of having an operation in thier lives.

U think that is painful welli had a tooth stuck under a vain i had to go to the hospital to have it doe as the dentist said if he hit the vain blood would go everywere.so i went to hospital and had it does and they hit the vain all i could taste for like a day is blood.

but apart from that ye hurt like hell for the first 2 days but still hurt after a week paracetimal FTW.

I was in a similar situation but I am refusing as mines is just two extra teeth I have at the roof of my mouth which aren't affecting me.

The reason I am refusing however, is because my dentist ruptured my vein with the jag the other week there and I my mouth was full of blood and I was in pain for like a week and a half... so I'm kinda waiting to get a new one sorted before I even consider it! :P

i had to have same thing as you, i had to have 2 big teeth out and my last baby tooth to have braces

they just but paste on gum area, inject the area
and then it should go numb, and she'll test its numb by poking it lol and asking if you can feel 'ote

then they jsut get em out and it bleeds but you can't feel it so its not bad

you feel like popeye for a few hours after, then thats about it and just be careful not to brush to hard on there or get food stuck in that area

and you should get braces about a month after that, but i don't think it even hurts tbh cos your mouths numb.

I had four out in one go once, the Dentist said you can have it done in two parts but I was like, nah just take them all out. I had trouble eating for a while (trying to make sure the food didn't go in all the holes...) and it ached for a bit after, but actually getting it done didn't hurt.
