View Full Version : Have you had a ghostly encounter?

I'm still very much a skeptic when it comes to ghosts, but this one time I was waiting for a train and it was pretty misty and I couldn't see much. An old guy comes running past on the opposite platform, and he just seemed to run so incredibly fast/float across it was weird.

No, but friends and family have told me of experiences they've had.

I don't know, I've seen "things" from the corner of my eye that seemed to have some sort of ghosty figure, so to speak but that could be anything. I won't believe it until it comes and slaps me in the face.

I won't believe it until it comes and slaps me in the face.My mum was washing up in her old house when she was a lot younger and somethign came and slapped her on the bum but there was nobody in. :O
Some nurses on my mums ward, went for a nap in the linen room, and 2 of them woke up because they felt some one rolling on them, but when they woke up no one was there.
And once a medicine pot landed in front of some one, but it landed as if some one placed it there.

Apparently when i was younger, i used to go into my mums room in themornign and tell her what the man at the end of my bed said.
My parenst just thought i was imagining things. But when we moved out a medium person (someone who sees ghosts) moved in and felt something wierd, and it turned out there was a spirit of a man who used to live in the house... When my aprenst think back the room did used to go really cold but we always ignore it.
And now everywhere i go i always feel someone is there and i always see shadows and things out the corner of my eye.....
So i do very much belive in ghosts and spirits...:)

Yes I do I think my house is haunted... I once felt someone poke me in the back but no one else was in the house, My brother once had a dream a black hooded figure was holding him down by the shoulders and when he woke up he couldn't move it was only him shouting that woke us all up and it wasn't until my mum entered the room he was realeased. There are some others but they only happened when we first moved into this house five years on these things have stopped now so it may have been us not being used to this new strange home or maybe we've been accepted by the spirets I guess we'll never know ;)

To be entirely honest, I think the concept of a ghost is impossible. When you die, you die. Game over. Saying that you come back as a spirit isn't that plausable - How many people in the world have died? Wouldn't it be a little... crampt? Just think of Africa, and all the people that die there daily.
Mostly I think it's just you wanting to believe it, and as such you do believe it. Take for example the dream one - It's not that hard to wake up and think that your dream has actually happened, as that's just your brain playing away whilst you're asleep.
Besides that, if it's a spirit and they're dead or whatever... how is it even remotely possible you'd be able to feel anything they do to you... (inbetween them knocking into the 500+ billion other dead people, all pushing and proding you at the same time)
On a side note though, more or less backing down on everything I just said, when my grandad died in a car crash a few years back, the first time I slept at his house after his death, I dropped my phone on the floor. When I picked it up, a full telephone number had been entered (which most deffinatly wasn't there at the time of dropping, as the keypad was locked). I phoned the number, and it didn't accept incoming calls - I checked on the internet for what the number was for a few weeks, found nothing. I guess it could of been "luck" that it hit the floor and typed in 11 numbers, with a correct Leeds area code and a working phone number, or it could of been something else.
Either way though, I standby my first comment, and as much as we're made to believe - I don't.
Being scared of people, is more needed then dead people. Real people hurt, dead ones don't.
I'm happy to debate what I just said, as it's an interesting topic.

Also my mum used to say my sister (as a baby) used to act pretty perculiar when she was alone, like reaching out and grabbing the air saying hello as if she was speaking to someone.

The thing is you don't die and come back as a ghost. You just don't go 'towards the light'. Usually it is because something happened in life that means they don't want to leave a certain place. Or if they died in a horrible way, like murder they stay around until justice has been done. That is why the earth is not 'crampt' because the majority go throught to 'afterlife' or whatever you believe.
Also my mum used to say my sister (as a baby) used to act pretty perculiar when she was alone, like reaching out and grabbing the air saying hello as if she was speaking to someone.
That is just an ordinary baby thing mate.

I threw something at it and it disappeared. It was well weird!

Pretty much agree with you there. The telephone scenario could be many things such as you typing the number and forgetting, someone typing it and forgetting to clear it etc.

Two family members have died in my house, so we've had quite a few "ghostly" encounters. The most recent one was on Boxing Day I believe when my 2.5 year-old niece said "ghost" as a statement twice on the monitor randomly, when she's pointed them out on TV before. They say the young are susceptible to these kind of things.

There was no lights on or anything, just me in by bedrrom and the light from the lampost outside. The door is open. When I lie down on my side, I wake up in the night and there is this firuge crawling along the wall, like a shadow towards me. I look around and theres nothing there. Then I feel dead cold and I run to my parents room and sleep on the floor

Thank you for asking about angels and babies. I am happy to say that yes, babies really do see angels, there have been lots of documented evidence of babies behaving in just the manner you describe.
I have been researching the subject of angel intervention for many years and have many accounts of mothers who witness babies clearly seeing something really special.
The angels are close to little ones and the beam on a baby's face says it all. Enjoy the fact that your little one has an angel close by and be happy to know that they are being protected.
All good wishes,

looks quite fake but if no-one was present in the buildings at the time then that's well creepy :(! also it's quite hard to comment on whether things like that are fake because do we actually know what ghosts look like since we don't have solid proof of their existence?

Poltergiest activities can be bad. They can make things fly accross the room which could hit you. Also a spirit could get inside you which wpould drain you of all energy and make you feel quite ill, maybe even faint.
I forgot before but my when my mum was about 14-15 she lived in a house with a huge gravel driveway, and they used to here footsteps all the time, look and nobdoy was there. Also they used to wake up in the morning and things had been moved, like little statuets moved accross the room, chairs in different places, things like that.

As for this i agree with whoever said it before i think it was proved untrue. It doesn't look very real and i feel the video showed it was fake. Just the way it moved and opened the doors, i don't think it was real, but you never knwo so you?!:P

Yea ouija boards are so dangerous. It wouldn't scare me if i 'contacted' the dead, im wierdly into that stuff, but if you are ever going to do a real one in a known haunted area then you should do so with the right protection. For example those that watch Most Haunted would know. What Derek Acorah or any mediums with them do is you do like a spiritual cloak thing to protect you.
I'd love to participate in one though, as long as the people knew what they were doing:P

To be entirely honest, that's quite honestly the crappest attempt I've ever seen that a ghost opening doors. Aren't they meant to be able to go through the door if they're a spirit? Or did this guy forget that and have to turn back human, open the door, then die again?

You want to see it, so they "do" see it. How many times have they actually caught anything on camera that:
1) Wasn't just "derek's best friends Sam" telling him things
2) Something moving off camera
3) Something that couldn't be done with a little wire, moving a door.
I seem to remember a newspaper report about the manager of Most Haunted leaving, and telling people it was a scam, and most of it was fixed. They got investigated after that, and taken off air. God knows how.. "Sam" got back on air.

Most Haunted... that show is a complete fake. There's some videos on YouTube of Yvette and co. screwing up. Plus, a couple of years ago one of the crew, Ciarran O'Keefe I think his name is, said it was all a bunch of rubbish after he did a load of tests on Derek, such as making anagrams of 'Derek lies', etc, and Derek picks up on them.
