Before the politically correct brigade start shouting this is in no way racist.
I live in leicestershire and the nearer to the city you get the bigger the asian community. I have noticed over the last year that many asians (never noticed it with other people) seem to walk straight out in the road and think that by holding their hand up to you they can walk straight across :s why don't they use the pedestrian crossings or cross safely between traffic? I am seriously considering speeding up next time to try and learn them the lesson that its not how we cross the road.
I have been to India and cant recall seeing this done there and the way they drive I dont think they would dare.
I am not saying all asians do this and its a very small minority but I am just wondering why they do it and where they got the idea from.

I've noticed this too. It's the same with Asian taxi-drivers pulling out in front of me or stopping in the middle of the road and thinking that putting their hazard lights on makes it okay. I honestly can't say where they could have got this idea from without appearing to be racist.

I live in Leicestershire, snap!
But yeah, I have seen a few people do it, and it is stupid. As if they'll actually stop/slow down simply because you put your hand up.

you should try driving in india lol its a great experience as long as you dont own the vehicle :p when you are at a T junction turning right or left they seem to go around you both sides. I saw 4 indians and a dog on 1 motorbike lol and another time 2 were on it but the passenger was holding a house door above their heads.

As said above its not just asians who walk out but i would prefer somebody in a world of their own stepping out by accident than somebody who think they have the right to stop the traffic to cross especially when there are so many pedestrian crossings.

They brought in the points system like theuk last year? my brother was telling me that you get 6 points for a drink drive so really 2 drink drives = a ban.

The Spanish government have put speed cameras in hidden places. You know in the UK, it has the sign "Speed camera" ahead etc, and then there's the massive camera, in Spain there's no warning nor can you see the cameras as they're on the other side of the road on bridges.

If that happened in the UK, that would be called Breach of Human Rights, no seriously.
Erm I haven't really noticed asians doing that, yet.
Also, the spanish motorways were well dangerous/chaotic when we went on holiday from Barcelona to France ahaha

Meh, I've heard many fun stories like this. My brother who drives along a big-ish road to work nearly got hit by a Pakistani driver who pulled out without thinking. He was staring but just went. It didn't help having the dog in the front, she hit her head on the dashboard and had to have an operation on her ear because she had a blockage.
If they get hit, they do ask for it sometimes... I'll just bid or aim for them then swerve last minute, but I'm a vicious driver :P Ask Mentor, I bib all the time.

I find in england quite a few Asians can be when with their families or friends but when on their own they talk to you. I dont know why that is. When in India they are the total opposite to what you find here and they all want to help you and be your friend but maybe thats because we are like kings with our cash and they are after a bit because the poorer people there earn like £12 a month.

And all the germans are nazis, all the english talk posh, all the americans use guns, all the russians drink vodka.
Please don't generalize, I know some indians, and they're some of the nicest people I've ever met.
But I agree though, some are prats, same goes for english/russians/french etc etc
You get prats everywhere sadly

I dont think its that bad tbh. At the end of the day the world is a free place. just because you pay taxes to use the road doesnt mean its your road, if i want to cross the road, ill cross the bloody road, aslong as thier a safe distance between me and the car. It is also similar with zebra crossing when drivers think they have priority over them and dont stop for you to cross.

A safe distance to cross is of course ok but to walk out and hold up your hand making a car brake is wrong.
Legally drivers do not have to stop at a zebra crossing until the pedestrian has 1 foot on it so if you stand with both feet on the path us drivers are well within our rights to keep going (Most of us stop but im pointing out the law)

Just because you have right of way, doesn't mean you can immediately walk out and get hit by a car. The common courtesy of zebra crossings is to stop and watch for a car. A car cannot immediately stop and drivers cannot read your mind. You may not cross, it happens. But running out into the road without waiting for the car to go pass which obvviously cannot stop within 10 feet, isn't a good thing and the driver is normally at fault.
As jrh said, you don't have right of way until you are literally on it. Unless you really want to be hit by a few tons of metal and plastic... :P
