Ok guys, I'm going to purchase an Xbox 360 Elite very soon and don't particularly want to send it back or it go kapput as soon as I get it, so, what causes the red rings of death or w.e and some general care tips for it?

Thanks!

I think the Elite can't get it , it has a certain chip in it.

But anyway , don't let it get TOO hot , i've had mine upright for ages and its never bust :)

The "Red Rings of Death" is caused by hardware failure primarily due to overheating.

yeh theres VERY few cases of the red ring of death on the elite. but the ones that have had problems is just the power supply (the little box) or the plug itself.

my elite got rrod, but after a few hours it worked again.

it got too hot tho, i had mates round, we all slept in living room, and the xbox was on a quilt, so it got really hot.

RRD. *Shiver*
Elites hardly ever get them.
But take precautions :)

My 360 Premium has a colling fan on the back in a open area, There is nothing you can do about it, myn is being repaired as we speak. Dont worry if it breaks it doesnt cost you any think, They every pay for the transporting of it..

Had my 360 Premium since August 2006 and its never been better! (never the RROD, well, 2 lights or something because I pulled the AV cable out by accident with my foot, but I plugged it back in and it worked again :O surprise surprise. LOL)

I had my xbox 360 for about 2 years, never had the RROD at all. You should be fine, just don't be one of them people who will drop it and move it while a disc is in the machine and all that crap :P

It's a temporary fix that forces the console to overheat which enables the solder on the graphics unit to mold back in to its original factory state.

don't get the elite, just get the standard X360 console, it's practically the same apart from the HDD.
