A man charged with murdering a shopper during an alleged row over queue-jumping in a south London supermarket has appeared in court.
Kevin Tripp, 57, was allegedly punched by Tony Virasami in Sainsbury's in Merton High Street on Tuesday.
Mr Tripp, from Colliers Wood, south London, suffered serious head injuries and died in hospital on Wednesday.
Tony Virasami, 37 of Sedgehill Road, Catford, was remanded in custody by Wimbledon magistrates.
He will appear at the Old Bailey on 18 September.
Mr Tripp lived with his partner and their five-year-old daughter.
His neighbour of more than 20 years, Brenda McDonagh, 70, who is also the mother of Labour MP from Mitcham and Morden, Siobhain McDonagh, described Mr Tripp as a "nice chap".
She said: "He was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
"Kevin was a quiet, self-effacing man. The last thing in the world he would do would be to become involved in anything violent. "He just wasn't that sort of guy. He just got on with life."

The crime levels now are just ridiculous.

Crime in Britain is really bad. There should be longer, tougher jail sentences.

People from sink estates are like sociopaths, they don't know how to behave in a normal way, they think the solution to everything is to stab who/whatever they have a problem with.

That was the purpose behind Australia. Unfortunately they seem to have taken control!

Actually, the girlfriend of the man who killed him started it.
She was having arguments with a man for queue jumping, she went outside to her boyfriend and pointed out the bloKE, her boyfriend hit the wrong man simple mistake he didnt mean for the lad to die - but a trouble starter sure.

Catford's where I live, wahey!
An it isnt a 'sink' estate thanks very much, dont critize till you actually have to live there, thanks.

How is that a simple mistake? It's the womans and the mans fault, entirely. Why on earth would you go outside and get your boyfriend to come in and beat the guy up for bloody queue jumping? Is waiting 3 more minutes to be served life threatening? Intentional or not intentional, it is the mans fault that the other man died.

You could say that, but I wouldn't mark it under GANG crime, its more borough hating on other boroughs more then actual gangs, espically where I live. Pick fights because you live in a certain area then them which is disgusting. It could only get worse but I would say American gang crime is way ahead of ours.

I didnt mean it was all a simple mistake, I meant getting the wrong man.
The woman is a complete idiot for doing that I know, but look at the area they live in, they havnt been taught better.
He deserves the punishment he gets, and if he dosnt get one then karma will come round and bite his ****.

You said you live in the area, does that mean that you haven't been taught better? No matter where you live, you still have natural morals. Getting the wrong man wasn't a simple mistake either as he shouldn't have even been in the place at the time trying to cause trouble where it wasn't needed. I hope he gets thrown in prison for life because it's such an unjustifiable offence.

Most people in my area 'fight' there way out of situations, sorry thats what I meant..
;) Your right he shouldnt have had a fight, and he shouldnt have been provocked by his girlfriend either. That poor man, I do feel sorry for him.
Not life, when people carry knives and stab up people PURPOSLY they dont get life. He was just on spur of moment gonna have a fight, there was no weapons involved. He should not be charged of life.
