A man charged with murdering a shopper during an alleged row over queue-jumping in a south London supermarket has appeared in court.Kevin Tripp, 57, was allegedly punched by Tony Virasami in Sainsbury's in Merton High Street on Tuesday.
Mr Tripp, from Colliers Wood, south London, suffered serious head injuries and died in hospital on Wednesday.
Tony Virasami, 37 of Sedgehill Road, Catford, was remanded in custody by Wimbledon magistrates.
He will appear at the Old Bailey on 18 September.
Mr Tripp lived with his partner and their five-year-old daughter.
His neighbour of more than 20 years, Brenda McDonagh, 70, who is also the mother of Labour MP from Mitcham and Morden, Siobhain McDonagh, described Mr Tripp as a "nice chap".
She said: "He was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
"Kevin was a quiet, self-effacing man. The last thing in the world he would do would be to become involved in anything violent. "He just wasn't that sort of guy. He just got on with life."
The crime levels now are just ridiculous.
