- Rep
I'm not sure if it's been suggested before and how other members might feel, but I think there is a way to help reduce the number of pointless -rep posts that we see being reported every day.
When pointless -rep is removed from the innocent member, I'm guessing that the member who gave the pointless -rep is probably collecting infractions or being warned, and they themselves are not penalised by reputation point deduction. Correct me if I am wrong.
What I want to suggest is that anyone caught giving pointless -rep does get penalised, be it a reduction of either 5, 10 or even 15 rep points.
I'm not sure whether this is workable, or a rubbish idea lol. Thoughts on this!

very good idea alice
i think this would be a great punishment
for the person who gave the pointless rep

I don't reckon so, it's a good idea in theory but frankly just about ALL -rep can be (and often is) argued as being pointless so people would get penalised for genuine -rep and it would cause more problems. I myself gave out a -rep yesterday and fully explained why, and still got a reply saying "thanks for the pointless rep" with some little insult

I believe the consequence is a PM the first time just telling you what you've done wrong and that they'll be a punishment if you do it again. The punishment is also your rep is checked through and rep is removed.
I am contacting you regarding the removal of your reputation. Rule C12 states that you must not issue pointless reputation, as a result of you issuing reputation that has been deemed as pointless on 12:50, 27th Dec 2007 you will now have your received reputation over the last 30 days inspected for evidence of pointless reputation. Any reputation that is found to be pointless will be removed immediately as punishment. Please ensure that you do not commit the same offence again and ensure that any future reputation you issue is valid. If you have any questions or queries regarding this, please do not hesitate to reply.
I'm not sure what happens the second time, I imagine it's a infraction or caution but I think decreasing rep power by 15 on the second time will help a bit so yeah, go for it ;)

It's a good idea but I can't see it happening, it would involve alot more work for the Reputation Editor and I can't see them wanting to do more work.

Perhaps, but only for obvious cases. Like ones with comments such as "osoosododi" or ones abusing/swearing.

yes but many people will complain that the -rep is pointless even if it isn't so people could get wrongly accused of issuing pointless rep & then there would be arguments etc etc...

I think everyone should just get the name of them who -rep
Just read my sig :\

How about when someone pointless -reps they get the amount they removed from the members reputation taken of theres.

Yes but remember, there is two sides to -rep, a -rep given with a good point but a stupid reason, then theres those who -rep for the fun of it.

Yeah my only concern is that a lot of people can't seem to live with -rep then argue it to the point of insanity. Obviously pointless reps perhaps we could do it for but there are some legitimate -reps I've seen that have been removed and according to some people pretty much every situation where you can get a -rep is invalid. For example some say "IT WAS MY OPINION" but rep is another way of expressing an opinion, therefore disagreeing by way of -rep.

Why not remove rep all together? it seems to be an issue on Habboxforum, it would solve everyones problem just removing it and starting up a new systhem simular to the repuation system?

One of the main reasons is we would invalidate a lot of the free rep VIPs got and paid for.

yeah, i think it is a really good idea.
but the problem is, some people willprobably report pointless -rep, when it has a point maybe? meaning that every time that somebody gets -rep, they will report it and get it took off.
but still, its a really good idea, if it is monitored closely.

Get the vB credits system, its better than the rep system. :)

Yeah I did say I wasn't 100% sure whether this was workable, and because I am aware that it can sometimes be difficult to dertermine what genuinely is pointless -rep. I've never reported -rep, and have taken it on the chin, but I do think there are instances where it's obvious.
Perhaps, but only for obvious cases. Like ones with comments such as "osoosododi" or ones abusing/swearing.
Yeah, exactly!

I don't really agree with this idea, sorry.
There is no 100% way to determine if one's pointless (unless obviously it's something like 'safhvhdsj'!)

There not paying for the rep though, the free rep is a bonus.
but what happens to people like me that likes -rep :S?

i get so many -rep for nothing, and im starting to hate the forum because ive done nothing to deserve them LOL
i get so many -rep for nothing, and im starting to hate the forum because ive done nothing to deserve them LOL
same
This is how it happens
I gave a -rep (leave my name)
they return
start arguing
a friend comes in and then starts
-reps me
pretends I've done something wrong
I report (used to)
now i just keep my -reps, I like them. :)

its not fair for the person who has to remove them, all hard work just because of others.

Init, you get "revenge" reps and then friends joining in and it all escalates. I still don't think it needs more monitoring though, it would just be work
how about all rep gets removed except the people that paid.

what the hell..
I trying to think of something what we can get instead of rep, becasue all VIP's are gonna argue so if there something they get more of then everyone happy?
the VB credit system is not a good idea.. seeing it could be a hack?
How about bigger PM spaces for these with higher rep?
stupid idea but you know what i mean?

I think we should have awards, or exp points
It's fair, I guess, not much rep being taken, but that's negotiable. I think it would be far too much effort to go round every pointless -rep giver and deduct 15 rep points from them because, as you said, there's many people reporting pointless rep. :P

God, i think it's a good idea.
People on this forum can get so ******. It's funny, really.
People ask for help about something and unless they have photographic proof- they're accused of lying and are then, in turn, -rep'd.
I do think that it should be policed because most of the time people don't have the right to -rep people, they just become bitter and do it in vengeance.
