Right, here's my problem, lol.
I can never get how to code things stuck into my head, I can read tutorials and understand them, but it just doesnt stick. If you give me a bit of code, I can tell you what it means or does, but if it ever came to sitting there with notepad (or whatever program) and coding a site from scratch, then I'd always have to refer to tutorial or code snippet sites and work from there.
:(
Its quite annoying really lol, its like being able to read and not write :$

No no it's just natural. When I coded my first usersystem (PHP) I had to keep looking back at what to do etc. Once you get more fluent it'll go :)
Im the kinda 'coder' that can understand the basic techniques used, and i;m able to relate things to other things.. Ive always wanted to code from my head but i just end up editing code off of internet tutorials and putting them in my systems i produce!

You get used to it after a while. Practice makes perfect.

I never forget stuff, unless I hardly use it. Instead of looking back at those tutorials look back at your own work.

Yeah, I do this all the time. I'll be starting a code from scratch in notepad and I don't remeber like 1 or 2 things so I'll just open the index from another similar layout I coded and just check. After doing it a few times you'll start to remember :)

i do that to :]
but once you read a tut a thousand times, it gets stuck in your head.
It's normal lol.
But it doesn't happen to me :=)
I used to get this all the time with php and a little with css. It sticks in your head after a while, and you become better at remembering things and experimenting with what you've learnt to create new stuff.

It's normal. I pick them up quite quickly once I use them a few times.
Apatana Studio is a good programme, it suggests codes from the letters you type if you understand me. Like if I typed
<style type =
it would suggest
text/css>
It works with CSS and xHTML and JavaScript. Hope I helped. :)

I think it is bad as you rely on that and when you come to coding in a notepad or something which doesn't have suggestions/whatever you will forget and have to go back to stage 1 of looking at other code.
Though I used to always get text/css the wrong way round same with text/javascript but that is now stuck in my head.

Personally I believe it's like everything else - if you use it frequently you'll remember it. But if you don't practice or use it then you'll forget it. Different people remember different ways - this is how I remember things by using them.

Keep going as you do, but instead of c+p-ing, make sure you understand the code, only then use it in your programs/sites, after a while, it'll just click.
