Daniel Hurley, from Sandiacre, Derbyshire (http://indepth.news.sky.com/InDepth/topic/Derbyshire), was found collapsed in his bathroom by his father Robert Hurley after using Lynx Vice deodorant.

Derby Coroner's Court heard that use of the spray in a confined space led to Daniel suffering a cardiac arrhythmia.

Mr Hurley tried to revive his son but he died at the Queen's Medical Centre (http://www.qmc.nhs.uk/) in Nottingham on January 12, five days after he was found.

RIP. It happened in January and I remember an assembly on him as he was in my school 2 years below me. At the time they just said he was a 'Healthy and normal boy' and they didn't mention how he died, he moved to the school not too long before, and he was allegedly rather quiet.

RIP, but surely a 12 year old doesn't need Lynx :S

*Stares at nearby can of Lynx Vice*

Suppose it makes you think about things... RIP.

People just use it to smell nice nowadays.

Id rather use a fragrance and spray it around my neck and collar to smell nice :)

I agree, you don't expect that to happen. You just think the warnings on the cans are just to get rid of Trading Standards etc..

That's quite bad, you wouldn't think a can of deodorant would have that much of an effect on a 12 year. Imagine how dangerous is must be around younger children :S

Well Im hoping children younger then 10 years old don't use it (but they probably do) as it can most likely cause problems :( Does really make you think about it to be honest.

Apparently he put tonnes of it on and the fumes made his heart stop or something - R.I.P.

I bet he was messing around with it as people do now, still a shame he died though.

Parents should probably only let kids use roll-ons, really. But then again, 12 isn't really too young. Isn't that Year 7/8?

i don't see why kids under like teenagers really need to use it. You don't sweat unless your really unfit say doing like a race or something but still sweat doesn't smell while its liquid it does when its dry and stail :P

People use it to smell nice and as you're going through puberty you tend to get bio, but you haven't hit puberty yet Ross so yeah.

^ Lol.

Erm wouldn't it be safe to assume he was in a small space (as I think it says) and spraying like half the can? I remember back at school in the PE changing rooms, lads would spray bucket loads of the stuff! Sad story however.

That's sad really, but he must have misused it and literally used loads to have died from it.
