Crap! I only just noticed that crunchyroll have caught up to Rumbel! They've uploaded up to episode 110 and Rumbel is at episode 116. In one month crunchyroll will have every single Gintama episode on their website, subbed. Then only episodes I haven't seen subbed are 118, 120, 124, 125, 127 and 128! I should have waited an extra two weeks before applying for the free trial! Now I won't be able to watch them unless I actually buy anime membership. -_- Well I guess one month membership is only $6.95... but still! Damn, why didn't I look sooner!

There is a lot of series I'd happily pay to watch before Haruhi, and Gintama is at the top of that list. There is no other way to watch the Gintama episodes I haven't seen, so I don't mind buying anime membership for a month or two to watch them. I buy a lot of anime DVDs and manga anyway. It's nice to support the indsutry every and now then, and really the fact that you don't rate anime above free entertainment is whats actually laughable.

Depends on the girls personality really, Had plenty of girls come into my room and see my stuff and be intrested in it. Wow, it wasn't really what I was expecting. I thought it would be ten pure minutes of epic action and backstory, but it was actually only four. The rest is usual Gintama comedy, which of course is not bad at all, but the lack of subtitles didn't help. :P Overall, a great short OVA but I'm just begging for a Gintama movie now!

Oh my god is anyone but me up to date with Gintama? The **** just hit the fan. Episode 180 was probably one of the best episodes of the series, it had a fine balance of action and drama. Sunrise seemed to experiment with the animation during the action scenes and for a while it was in this cool ink style like in the Street Fighter trailer. It was amazing. Also, more of Gintoki's past was shown! His master finally got some screentime. The arc is almost over, and I'm going to have to say it's up there with the rest. Maybe not as good as the Itou arc, but still absolutely fantastic.

There are a couple of nods to the series coming to a close in the latest ending and there is a huge Gintama event also taking place on the same day as if to bid the series farewell. The movie also opens exactly a month after that date. The manga, however, is still going strong. I really hope Sunrise are just trolling again and the anime doesn't end.

How am I missing out? I just download all of my anime unless the series has been released in the UK and I have a little money at the time to buy it. I'm only going to import Gintama because it's my favourite series and perhaps the one I want to own the most. Hopefully they'll include the specials and extras that were on the Japanese DVDs such as Sa-chan's song, since they're the only things I haven't been able to get hold of yet. Downloading 4gb+ iso files is a bit much. :P

That is why I am importing Gintama and I would support other series if they would care to release them in my domain. I'm sure distributors don't release DVDs in America with high hopes that the British public such as me and yourself buy them. If they wanted our support then they would release them over here. ;) No British fan should be expected to own a multi-region DVD player and expected to import DVDs from overseas to support a series. I just wait for the Region 2 DVDs or don't buy them at all.

As for the arc query - ADV have never really distributed a long and on-going series before so I guess we'll have to wait and see.

- After episode 201 the manga will be less than 10 chapters ahead of the anime.
- As previously mentioned, once Gintama ends TV Tokyo will be rebroadcasting fan favourite episodes. Sunrise stated that they are "not just your average reruns." Which begs the question - will they contain extra footage and some changes? If so will they be uploaded and subbed on crunchyroll?
- After episode 201 Gintama will be changing timeslots from Thursdays to Mondays. So the first rerun will likely be broadcast on the 5th of April.

Also, lets all watch this video every day to constantly remind ourselves how good Gintama is.

Some new info on the reruns TV Tokyo are broadcasting starting on the 5th of April.

The new timeslot is at 6:00pm on Mondays. As stated before, Sunrise said the episodes "would not just be your average reruns" although it hasn't been revealed what will be different about them yet. However it was revealed that the reruns will be broadcast under a new title and will have a new opening and ending. The new title will be 'Yorinuki Gintama-san' and the opening and ending songs are both done by DOES (who did Donten, the song for the 5th opening). The opening is called 'Bakuchi Dancer' (which will also be featured in the Gintama movie in a months time) and the ending is called 'Our Season'. I hope these episodes are subbed and uploaded onto crunchyroll. I still need my weekly Gintama even if they are reruns!

According to Eiga.com, a live event "Gintama Spring Festival" was held on March 25th. At the event, director Takamatsu Shinji stated that "Gintama hasn't ended at all. It's not begun yet! We shall be back!". The co-director Fujita Yoichi said "When Sorachi Hideaki writes enough amount of manga chapters, I want to do the series again with the staff gathered here."

The new opening and ending for Yorinuki Gintama-san (thats the title the reruns are going by) have been uploaded to YouTube. Both songs are by DOES so they are immediately awesome. Also, I think all of the footage used is from the Gintama movie that'll be out in a week or so. Theatrical release however, so we won't be able to see it for a while.

Whats with the name change for the series + is the hiatus over now?

It never went on a complete hiatus, it's still airing. However, the episodes being broadcast are touched up versions of fan favourites from the series with new material here and there. For the re-broadcast of these fan favourite episodes they changed the name of the series to Yorinuki Gintama-san so no one would get confused and think the original series was still running. When the series does come back from its break it'll be called Gintama again, and no, the haitus is not over and probably won't be any time soon.
