Hi there,

So I got Windows 7 a beta version but its weird because I have all the new things but the taskbar.

I just have the basic Vista bar.

sounds like you have build 6801 or below.

use this tool to activate the features.

Since this thread is kinda over and done with I'll hijack it instead of clogging up the forum with another on a similar subject.

I wanna install windows 7 on my Dell Laptop, if I do will it have the drivers for the touchpad and keyboard and all that or do I have to get them from elsewhere? I've never installed a new OS on a laptop before :P

Thanks in advance

If you are using Windows Vista at the moment you will be fine (Vista and 7 use the same drivers). If you are using XP at the moment download this (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-vista/get/upgrade-advisor.aspx) and check to see if there are drivers available. You could also make a new partition and have 2 os's running on your computer.

Mouse and keyboard etc will be able to use generic drivers built into the OS and if there's any compatible manufacturer drivers you can install them as well if you want.

Can you install updates without deleting everything, for example if you have build 6xxx and you want 7xxx Can you install it internaly rather than having to remove windows 7 completely and doing a fresh install?

You have to do a fresh install. You might want to wait for tomorrow when it is released onto the Microsoft site so you can get 7000 legally.

I wonder what sort of restrictions they will have on it

Hijacking (yet again)

Has anyone had problems installing nvidia drivers on a laptop at all?

My laptop refuses to install them as it believes another driver installation is open (it thinks itself isnt itself basically)
