When i sleep, i kind of bend my knees, it's ok for a while but like 15 minutes after i can feel a splitting pain in my knees.

I can walk for long distances and nothing like this happens.

I haven't hurt my knees recently.

Anyone have any suggestions on what the problem can be?

If you sit down and try to lift your legs so that your leg is horizontal, does it hurt just below the kneecap?

Nope, just fine. No pain at all.

I think I'll book a appointment at the Doctors just to make sure everything is ok and that.

I got that once, it was to do with the way I slept that night.

If it's caused by the position you're in while sleeping it'll be hard to stop... if you don't already you could exercise more to strengthen your knees?

Uhm yeah, i think I'll try that out.

A few people i know have said to have a hot bath with salt water so i'm going try that out tonight. With some music and chocs. :D

Thanks everyone for suggestions. +Rep to you all.

My knees are bad too

I damaged them because I was a crazy kid and liked to jump off high things? Stupid I know......

I sleep with my knees bent aswell jst because if I straighten them my feet stick out the end of the bed.

Also it has to be something to do with my height aswell, I'm quite tall. (6 ft 3)

There's a problem you can be born with, which is common in boys, which basically gives you weak knees, may be something like that.

Not sure if its the same thing but, I had lumps out the lower of my kneecaps, this was about 3 years ago, very painful, it was bone growing faster my body, therefore the bones had no where to go, i eventually grew and got rid of them.

just a growth spirt you had to put up with for me. Ty

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to insult you - Just when you don't excersise certain muscles tighten up and begin to hurt, especially your knees, shoulders and the area around your tailbone.

Try going to the gym weekly if you're of age and you may start to see a change.

Try keep your legs straight while you sleep? They're probably bent too much while you sleep and the blood flow could cause pains I dunno

Do you mean Osgood Schlatters?
Thats what I have, Its an issue with the tendon in the knee and it gives you a real sharp pain just under the knee if you knock it.
To the dude that started this thread, Have you got a little buldge under your kneecap?
