I'm going to sit for a major exam this year & I need to concentrate 100% in my studies. Problem is, at times during class I tend to feel so sleepy and fell asleep..I sleep bout 2 am everyday doing stufss & revising. So, I'm wondering if anyone could come up with tips to not be sleepy during class and when revising?
Much appreciated
+rep for good suggestions

Its all good and well to revise but sometimes not getting proper sleep will effect your brain meaning you cannot do your best at your real exams as your too tired to think properly.
Id say deffintley get into a routine of getting to bed at a suitable time and making sure you have enough sleeping time.
Gl with your exams, I got my GCSE's coming up too.

Sleep at round 10pm (or earlier) everyday, take regular breaks when revising. Eat well and drink plenty of fluids. Drink something with caffeine so you have a bit of an adrenaline. Pretty much all. :)

If you want to focuse 100% on studying then you should try to reduce other activities which mean 2am is your only study time... even if its just for the months leading up to exams.

In all honesty, 02:00 is too late. This is coming from someone who has been on Facebook at 05:00 as many of my friends are counting down the words needed for their essay. A late night messes up your day. I've been there, done that. Get in the habit of getting to sleep before midnight. Before 23:00 used to work well for me to get up at 07:00. (Nowadays it's a relief when I can get my six hours of sleep! Catch-up timeeeeee.)
Try to get eight hours of sleep and you will feel better for it. If you can't get that at the moment, you will have to cut down on some parts of your life. Sacrifices need to be made if you want to succeed in your academic career. It's a harsh reality, but whatever the "doing stufss" (to quote) is, you might need to streamline it.
Drink plenty of water, and eat healthily. (It does make a difference!) Oh, and breakfast, too. Even if you're not hungry, force something down.

Basically like everyone has said it helps to drink plenty of water and to eat breakfast. And simply the best way to stay awake and focused is just to GET SLEEP. Nothing substitutes sleep. And even if you can't get a lot of sleep, try to sleep in multiples of 90 minutes. Like for an hour and a half, or 3 hours, or 4 and a half hours, etc. This is because you sleep in cycles of 90 minutes, with part of the time spent in non-REM (rapid eye movement) sleep and part of the time spent in REM sleep. That way you'll be waking yourself up after your REM cycles are complete - waking up mid cycle can leave you tired for the rest of the day. This is why sometimes if you get like 6 hours of sleep, you'll be better rested than if you had 8 hours since you'll have woken up mid-cycle.

I don't know if this is possible but, could you not ask if the schedule could be changed around a little? Staying up that late because you don't have time to revise any other time can't be good for you.
If not then, like people have said in other posts, drink plenty of water.

And try to sleep earlier then 2:00AM. Because you only have a few hours to sleep which is not enough.

Then you need to talk to some authority figure at the school. If you can't cut things out of your day, you need to talk to someone who will help you do that. You cannot continue as you are.

Drink coffee, I heard that's meant to do the trick.

A strong coffee is great, but it's only a short-term fix. You're good for an extra hour or so, but regardless of how much caffeine you take, if your body is really tired you can get the shakes even after one cup.
Rest is vital. If that's unobtainable in the OP's lifestyle, he has his priorities wrong.

Breakfast is essential, preferably cereal or something decent to keep you going, a Yoghurt simply won't do that.
Water is important, I tend to find caffeine does the trick for me, Coffee, Tea, Red Bull, Relentless etc but yeah you've got to sort your schedule out really or begin dedicating your weekends to revising if not as you can't sacrifice sleep for work.
If you're ever feeling tired, keep your hands away from your face and keep your eyes open no matter what it takes :P

If you have a Holland & Barrett (http://www.hollandandbarrett.com) store near you, run in there and get Siberian Ginseng. It releases long bursts of energy into your system throughout the day.
