No one really talks about manga on here, despite it being cheaper, easier to get hold of, and often more superior to anime. I will admit that anime gets my vote if I had to choose between the two, and I'm guessing it would also get everyone elses vote, but there definitely deserves to be a manga discussion on this forum! Without manga way over half of the good anime series wouldn't even exist!
So, let's start!
Do you read manga?
Do you prefer it to anime?
What are your favourites?
My top five...
1. Claymore
2. Death Note
3. Guyver
4. Bakuman
5. Peace Maker
Although I predict that Eden: It's an Endless World and Ping Pong will kick two others out of my top five once I've finished them.

Good? It's bloody amazing! I think a fair few people do seem to know about it though. The UK was the first place for it to be released officially excluding Japan. :eusa_danc Takeshi Obata and Tsugumi Ohba are an unstoppable force!
I think the manga version of Death Note is on par with the anime. I just can't accept the fact that Mikami would suddenly stop believing in Light and start saying that he wasn't KAMI! It makes more sense for him to kill himself. I LOVE the extra bit at the very end of the manga with Matsuda and Ide though. Just knowing that Matsuda and the others thought that maybe the world actually was a better place when Kira around was so satisfying. Matsuda's theory about Near was also extremely interesting. It makes so much sense but at the same time I don't like to think it's true because I like to think that Light was actually once in control, and Near didn't actually have it all planned out and wasn't ten steps ahead of everyone else. :P
I think I prefer the anime version of Welcome to the NHK over the manga version. The manga has some really cool parts that make you think "Damn, that would have been good in the anime. I wish they put that in there." but overall the anime is still the best. :P Manga is a must read though!

Speaking of Soul Eater in my post above, Chris you should seriously consider continue watching it, I just watched episode 48 the latest episode there and it is getting so epic. It's supposed to have 51 episodes and thats it cause the end differs from the manga but the recent episode wow, just wow!
Also www.animeseason.com (http://www.animeseason.com) the new site I use to watch things.
It updates once a day and has every single ongoing anime I can think of, check the full list for animes that arent ongoing, it has like 500.

I watched episode 38, 39 and 40 last week but it's seriously boring now. Episode 23 and 24 are the best episodes I've seen so far, and I'm pretty sure it'll stay that way. After that everything just went down hill. Also, the new characters are lame. I don't want to see some spider *****, some guy with chainsaw legs and a priest. Bring back Stein, Medusa and Asura. I hate how the ultimate bad guy is released and everyones ******** their panties but as soon as he is released he runs away and hides in some cave. What the hell? That right there - that's ********. I will finish it just because theres no point in dropping it now, but I don't think I'll enjoy it anymore. -_-

Is it worth buying Claymore? Yes, yes, yes! Is there anything better that you should spend your money on? No, no, no! Claymore is seriously the best manga I have ever read. The only thing I'd recommend besides Claymore would be Eden: It's an Endless World. While Claymore starts good and then gets really awesome later on, Eden starts awesome and later on gets even more awesome. Definitely get Claymore though, then we can be Claymore buddies. I guarantee you won't be able to put it down after the fifth volume! That's when the proper story kicks in, it's just so interesting and so awesome from there. The story is just fantastic, and the world and characters the author has created are amazing.

Don't be fooled! It could have caught up to the manga before ending and may include a few fillers, or the plot may have been changed so it could end prematurely. The anime version of Full Metal Alchemist is finished, but the manga is still on-going, the anime splits from the manga very early on though, around the 5th volume. So it's not normally how it goes. :P

So I finished Welcome to the NHK and Trigun this weekend. The first volume of Trigun was pretty average, but the second volume was amazing. The second volume is where the anime splits from the manga, so it was nice to read some original Trigun material. Everything that wasn't included in the anime was so good, I wish they'd just remake the anime like they're doing with FMA so it could include everything. Knives' awakening was epic as ****! Now on to Trigun Maximum - I actually can't wait!I've been reading Welcome to the NHK for ages despite it being only eight volumes long, so I felt quite accomplished when I finished it. :P The ending was more satisfying than the ending in the anime, and while the anime done some things better, there were a lot of scenes in the manga that I wish were included in the anime. The anime splits from the manga to focus more on the relationship between Satou and Misaki, and while the manga also develops that, it does a lot more at the same time. The manga has a lot more to offer, and I think I'd say it's actually better than the anime, if not on par. Well it has to be damn good to be placed 4th on my favourites list! It was such an excellent read, and I now want to check out the novel! My long awaited volumes of Eden should have arrived by the time I get home, so I'll be reading them next. I have no doubt they'll be nothing less than fantastic.

I'm starting to prefer it to anime now as well. Before if someone asked me the question "anime or manga?" I'd say anime straight away but now I see both have their merits. You get things out of manga you just can't get from watching anime. You're able to follow the story at your own pace, and your imagination works a treat. You can give the characters their own voices, and give the panels movement through your imagination, among other things. You have the power to read what you want to read and see what you want to see. Everyones experience from reading a manga is difference, but with anime and programmes in general, you're told everything and don't get that freedom. A good anime may be amazing, but there really is nothing better than a good book. While manga's are often better though, I have to agree that some work better as an anime. Gintama for example. Gag's and humour just seem to work better when you're watching it, not when you're reading it. :P
I read Hotel today. Aparrently it's the best oneshot every made, I disagree, it's the second best. One hell of a good read though. :8
You guys should just forget about buying volume one and read it online, then buy the other volumes. That's what I was going to do until I managed to find it.

It's called 20th Century Boys and it's name comes from the 70s rock song of the same name by T.Rex. The title fits the manga perfectly considering that the villain is plotting to destroy the world on New Years Eve, 2000 AKA the last day of the 20th Century.
Also, just found out today that not only is the first movie released on DVD on the 4th of May, but both the first and second film in the trilogy are going to be premiered at the Sci-Fi London Film Festival on the same day. Tickets costs a bomb (£8 to see the first movie, £12 to see the second) but I'm going to go regardless. :eusa_danc Sci-Fi London on the 4th of May, and the MCM Expo on the 23rd and 24th. Just finished reading Solanin. It was ******* amazing. The last few chapters were absolutely perfect. Damn... everything about it was perfect! I'm speechless. It's only 28 chapters long. Viz released it over here in one big 400+ page book. If you get a chance to read it, don't pass up the opportunity. It follows a group of college graduates who quite frankly don't know what to do with their lives, and feel out of place in the world. I'm sure pretty much everyone will be able to relate to this manga in one way or another. It deals with realistic topics and the characters are so human. They are believable as real people. Their actions, appearance, words... all of it is so humanly realistic that it doesn't at all seem like a work of fiction. If someone told me it was a true story I wouldn't be surprised.

hi
Do you read manga? yes
Do you prefer it to anime? well I usually read the manga first if it's out then the anime and I find I tend to be disappointed with the anime compared to the manga, if I watched the anime first I'll like it ... until I read the manga and feel it's inferior, mostly because the anime sometimes have to be limited and miss out a lot so yeah
What are your favourites? Ouran High, yeh I'm a girl it's allowed even though it's been on going for so long and takes ages to come out even in the Japanese versions ;_; Skip Beat!, Fruits Basket & Vampire Knight are my favourties although they're not my favourite anime excluding Skip Beat.
Don't think you'd have read any of them though xD

Prefer contemporary American comic stuff like Sin City and Watchmen. Also if anyone gets a chance to read Batman - Arkham Asylum and see the artwork its jaw dropping and you can sorta see Manga influence.

Huh? I'm a huge fan of the Spider-man comics and loved Watchmen. I've also read other stuff like Wanted, Kick-ass and Spawn. Why are you constantly under the impression that I hate everything that isn't from Japan? I've never bad mouthed American comics and graphic novels and I never will because a lot of them are really good.
Finaly got my NHK 1 :D happy tho its a bit flimsy compared to my Viz books
I realised the other day that excluding NHK, Peace Maker and Mahoromatic Tokyopop have licensed nothing but crap. Their titles ranges from really bad to... shoujo. What a selection they have... Viz have by far the best selection of manga. I'd say Del Rey and Dark Horse both come in second, then comes Yen Press and Tokyopop. CMX, although having published very few manga, get huge bonus points for Gon though. :D
The thing I hate about Viz though is that they're constantly changing their logo's on the spine of the mangas they publish. I have ones with a little swirly thing, ones that say sig, ones that just have a v, ones that are editors choice and of course the shounen jump ones. Why so many? What really pisses me off is that they change it in the middle of a series. I have the first three volumes of 20th Century Boys, all thats out so far. The first two volumes have the little swirly thing on the spine, but the third one has the 'sig' logo which I assume means it's a 'Viz Signature Edition' whatever the hell that is BECAUSE IT'S EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE SWIRLY ONES! Not to mention the swirly ones also say signature edition on the back... so does the swirly thing mean its a signature edition or does the sig logo mean its a signature edition or are they both signature editions and if they are why do they have different logos theres nothing different about them dammit im going to complain! Oh and the first five volumes of Vagabond I have all have the swirly thing but the sxith volume has a little crown which says 'editors choice' underneath instead. YOU'VE JUST RUINED THE CONSISTENCY OF MY COLLECTION WITH THAT EDITORS CHOICE! Damn you Viz!

well this is my 1st tokyo pop book. is it suppose to be really flimsy? feels like i could rip it apart lol. and viz are ok but i dont like them for a few reasons.
1. One Piece. Best selling manga ever. Yet they are still only releasing 2-3 books a year. ( tho Viz did announce they will be showing the latest OP chater in the US Jump )
2. The speeding up naruto to like 3 books ever couple month. just so they could could catch up. unfair on other BETTER series
3. Editing the manga
4. Calling Zoro, Zolo. And changing names in other series aswell. They kept the proper names in dragonball like kuririn.
But i have to deal with all that because i want the books lol. Do you know if NHK is edited in any way? i know it has a warning on the cover

They're not that flimsy. :P You got a pirate copy init. That's how rare it is. Real copies aren't in circulation anymore.
1. If you haven't already heard the news, Viz are going to release 30 volumes of One Piece in half a year. Look here (http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=97043). If they do that for 20th Century Boys and Bleach I will forever praise them.
2. Read number 1, they're doing the same for One Piece. I guess they just done Naruto first because it's more popular in America.
3. In what way? I know they change the names and stuff but surely not the art?
4. Yeah Viz really piss me off when they do that. In Bleach they call a Cero a 'Doom Blast'. It makes me cry. They don't deserve any praise for Dragonball though because they called Piccolo's special beam cannon something so stupid I can't even remember. Spiraling light of death or some **** like that. Also in 20th Century Boys they call the antagonist 'The Friend' instead of just 'Friend'. Why is 'the' needed!? His name is just Friend!
The whole Zoro/Zolo thing is stupid though because don't the wanted posters IN THE ANIME say Zoro? Theres no arguing with that. Theres a whole debate on MyAnimeList over Horo/Holo from Spice and Wolf as well lol. The official website calls her Holo, but the official novel calls her Horo. Everyone knows her as Horo, just keep it at that for gods sake.
NHK isn't edited as far as I'm aware. Tokyopop actually did a fantastic job translating it and they even stated themselves how fun it was to read so I don't think they'd change it in any way. They even went as far as translating Sato and Yamazaki's video game proposals at the back which are a great laugh. Even I can tell how much effort those would have taken to translate - a lot! :P

Why would they change that scene from FMA when Viz publish things like Neon Genesis Evangelion? The symbolism in that is insane. The rating for NGE is 16+, isn't that the same as FMA? :S
Mangaka and Japanese licensors should do what Studio Ghibli did. Hayao Miyazaki made a deal with Disney to help promote and distribute his movies over sea's but Miyazaki stated they were not allowed to edit anything in his movies at all. They aren't allowed to touch the content, they have to distribute it how Studio Ghibli want it. That's how it should be for manga. No editing names, art, content, anything! Release it how it's meant to be seen!

2. Dragon Ball Z (awesome series)

4. Ghost in the Shell (only seen Stand Alone Complex 1st Gig, loved it)
5. Death Note (a bit random at some points, but love the way Light kills Naomi Mizora :P)

Go to Leicester Square. There are three great manga shops all within five minutes walk of each other there, and some good DVD shops as well as comic shops.
My top picks would be Forbidden Planet and Gosh!. Orbital Manga have a good selection but they never have the first couple of volumes in a series so it's pointless going there for manga unless you want a latest issue. Although when I went there last they were missing a lot of latest issues as well... I think you can drop 'em a message on myspace and tell them what you want and they'll get it in though. Prices range, but pretty expensive.
Gosh! has a great collection and they're pretty much always stocked up, prices range from expensive to cheap. They also stock a lot of unknown gems and obsecure titles, so you might make a good find or two there. The first time I went they had a box of manga and each volume in the box was only £2 each. That wasn't there last time I went though.
Forbidden Planet has the biggest selection I've ever seen, but the manga is pretty expensive. However, when I went there two months ago they had two pretty big sections of extremely cheap manga. It's brand new, but cheap. They sneek like half of the volumes in a series in there so you're tempted to buy the cheap ones, then you also have to buy the expensive ones to get the rest. It still works out very cheap though. That's where I got all nine volumes of Genshiken. Cost me just over £40 I think which is even cheaper than Amazon.
The manga is downstairs in both Forbidden Planet and Gosh!.
I only read the Bleach manga as I honestly can't be ****** with all these fillers anymore. I'll probably watch the anime still though as it'd be cool to see stuff like the Ulquiorra fight animated.

Oh theres no contest the anime is of course much better. I wonder how the manga will handle the finale. That'll be one hell of a spectacle. The manga comes with an interview with the anime series coordinator and scriptwriter and it notes how he muttered to himself "How the hell are we going to visualize this?" when he looked at the script for the final battle in spiral space. :P It also notes that the guy who is adapting the anime into the manga felt stumped when he read most of the scripts. Sounds like the staff actually had no idea what they were creating, lmao.

I think now the anime series is done and over with the author of the manga probably has a good idea of what to do now. His art captures the style of Gurren Lagann perfectly, which I assumed would be a hard thing to do. The backgrounds and detail are also impressive, so well done to him.
I'll be going in October but only for one day this time. I won't be going to buy either, I'll be going as a photographer. :8 If you cosplay as Simon you can guarantee I'll get a photo of it. I like tracking down Gurren Lagann cosplayers. :P

In other news I finally finished Rose Hip Zero. It's a five volume manga by the same person that created GTO. It's also a prequel to one of his other mangas, Rose Hip Rose. I feel the series was concluded too fast, but other than that it was great. The art is by far the best aspect.

I recently started Angel Densetsu. It's really good so far, and incredibly funny. It's about this guy who has the face of a demon but inside hes a really innocent, kind-hearted person. Because of his looks he gets acquainted with the wrong people and is misunderstood by everyone. It's by the same guy that does Claymore, but it first started publication back in 1992 so the art isn't as good as his current series. Still, some really decent stuff! I recommend it.

I love the manga, but enjoyed the anime a lot more. The anime is more mature and has a much darker tone, plus the voice acting, music and editing just can not be beaten. The montage of Light madly writing names into his Death Note in the first episode just can't be replicated in manga, as draw images can't portray the sense of speed and intensity as much as animation can. Though with that said the manga still does a damn good job. I think I prefer the anime in pretty much every aspect however, but I do wish they animated the last few scenes in the manga as well instead of leaving them out. Although I prefer the anime, I totally recommend the manga though. It is one of the best books out there.

The guy that directed Death Note hasn't really done anything else worth mentioning, but the two guys that created the manga are currently publishing a new-ish series called Bakuman. It's light years away from Death Note, however. Madhouse, the animation studio that adapted Death Note to the screen, have produced many fantastic series though. They're probably my favourite studio in fact. Some good stuff they've done includes Hajime no Ippo, Monster, Beck, Trigun and all of Satoshi Kon's films.

How can you talk about the voice actors without even mentioning Mamoru Miyano!? He is by far the best voice actor in the entire show and has probably displayed the best voice acting in any anime, ever. Kappei Yamaguchi is good, but he is way overrated and Kazuya Nakai has too small a role to make any impact.

Cheers :D.
Which characters are each of those voice actors?
Neversoft

Mamoru Miyano - Light
Kappei Yamaguchi - L
Kazuya Nakai - Mogi
Mamoru Miyano (Light) and Ryo Naitou (Matsuda) in the very last episode was some of the best voice acting I have ever seen in my opinion.

But you can't deny Mamoru Miyano's talent! As soon as someone mentions Death Note his performance instantly pops into my head. He should do more insane characters. He was great as Kidd in Soul Eater as well.
I've fallen quite far behind with Bakuman. I'm only on chapter 38 but I think theres something like 60 out now. It's a great manga, just not as compelling as Death Note. :P

Are there ways to describe different styles of anime or manga? It might help me find stuff I like in the future if there were. For example, you know the way emotions are sort of exaggerated (possibly for humour) in things like Pokemon and FMA (they are the only reference points I have lol, but they both share the style I have in mind)... like when someone is embarrassed their face flashes into tinny eyes/pink cheeks etc? On the other hand, Death Note which is very mature and lifelike in the animation and expressions.
Basically I'm not such a fan of the FMA style, but lean more towards the Death Note style, although I understand DN is clearly more serious while FMA tries to balance emotional aspects with humour. Does this make any sense?! :P
Southe,

i think i understand what your getting at.
Tho i can't think of any at the top of my head most serious use that sort of effect when using humour or emotions. I like both really aslong as its not spammed alot
So a scene like this your not a fan of? prefer more serious?

Misa gives a couple of funny expressions throughout the series, as does Matsuda. Like Ryuzaki, I think I know what you mean though. I recommend Samurai Champloo if you're looking for a well designed series that doesn't really use over exaggerated facial expressions. Quite a few mature series such as Claymore, Guardian of the Sacred Spirit, Ghost in the Shell, Baccano and Ergo Proxy abandon that anime cliche. I wouldn't go as far as calling it a style though, as it is prominent in most series, mature or not. Cowboy Bebop is a good example of a mature, like-like animated series that still uses those kind of facial expressions. It blends it very well, in fact.

Yeah Ryu, but as you say it's alright in moderation. I think FMA gets it about right. I was just thinking if there were any more that cut it out completely like Death Note did, I'd be interested.
'Anime cliche' is a great way to put it Never! I'll look into your suggestions in due course :).
Thanks.

In late 2009, Bandai announced a new project greenlit for 2010. It is going to involve the simultaneous release of multiple products. A manga, titled Code Geass: Jet-Black Renya (Kōdo Giasu: Shikkoku No Renya), is the first product announced. It features a seventeen year-old boy named Renya with a mechanical arm who uses shuriken (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shuriken) as his weapon of choice. The story begins when he encounters C.C. It is supposed to be set in the Edo period (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edo_period). NOO One Piece :D
you'll see it when you read it.
And im considering getting 20th Century Boys I hear its part of a Viz range which actually translates it properly. no crappy edits like One Piece. Changing God to Kami. which would be right if it was japanese but it aint. just looks stupid >.< Not as bad as Zolo tho >.>
Neversoft

Well the antagonist in 20th Century Boys is called Friend but Viz call him 'The Friend' which bugs me a little but its no so bad. The rest of the translation is spot on, no messing around and changing things. However, there is a character who often dreams of the future and because of this the people around him call him God, but the Viz version leaves it as Kami-sama, which as you say is pretty stupid because its not a translation, they're leaving it in Japanese which is beyond the point. Apart from that though everything is perfect. I wish they would just hurry up and release the rest of the volumes.
You should definitely read it as soon as you can though, I promise you won't regret it. The most perfect manga I've ever read I think is Genshiken, but its very closely followed by 20th Century Boys. I'd give every aspect of 20th Century Boys a ten except the characters which I would give a nine, because there is one that annoys me. The main protagonist is one of the best realistic hero characters I've come across though, and the antagonist is definitely one of the most memorable. The story is possibly the most captivating thing I've ever read, which explains why I read all 265 chapters in only two weeks. I just couldn't put it down. Ahh, good times.
http://www.mangaspain.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/20th-century-boys.jpg
By the way, don't watch the live action movies yet. They'll spoil the hell out of you. Don't even watch the trailers, theres major spoilers in the third one that would ruin the entire story. :P

Completely disagree. Viz pretty much own the English language manga industry and are willing to publish series other publishers wouldn't dare go near. They do well with all their series but I personally think they excel with their seinen releases such as Vagabond, 20th Century Boys and Pluto. In Vagabond they even kept the names the Japanese way around to keep the authenticity. They also include extremely detailed translation notes. Their SJ Advance series is actually the only disappointing thing about Viz. The manga released under the SJ Advance title seems to be aimed more at younger teens so things have been simplified and words changed. The cero in Bleach for example is now called the Doom Blast. Translation in more mature series released under the SJ Advanced title, such as Slam Dunk and Monster, is much better though. Bad mouthing Manga Entertainment is one thing but please don't bad mouth Viz Media, since they do a fantastic job.
Also, why did you single out Viz when I actually just said 'English publishers'?

Sorry, but ten series is not much. I own more than twenty series, with over 200 manga all from vastly different genres and demographics. I own Viz's SJ Advance series, their normal shounen series, their editor's editions, their signature editions, their seinen series and old manga from way back when Viz released everything under the same title. Plus I have read a lot of manga online and have been exposed to many different translating and editing efforts, both good and bad. If anyone knows the quality of the manga Viz release, its me.
Also, for your information I have read One Piece. The translation was fine. It was easy to follow, I knew what was happening and everything made sense. Just because it may differ from the translation in the anime it doesn't mean it was translated badly. The dialogue has simply been simplified for kids.
Also, you just proved my point by correcting me when I said One Piece and Dragon Ball were SJ Advance series. Since they're under the normal shounen category they are most definitely series targeted more specifically at older kids and younger teenagers. Hence the simplifications. Bleach is also released under the normal shounen title, which would explain why they have simplified things, removed references to Japanese culture and have changed names of moves such as the cero to the doom blast - just like in One Piece and Dragon Ball.
Also, who are you to say I haven't read One Piece when you're saying Viz suck after barely scratching the surface of their manga.

Yes, simplifing the dialogue is a perfect translation because it is aimed at CHILDREN. You can't expect them to leave in Japanese text - children just wouldn't understand. Viz have chosen not to aim One Piece at people of your age - please try and understand that. Also, why the hell would they leave God as Kami in a childrens manga? Enlighten me. This also inforces what I said about you having little hands on experience with Viz, because in 20th Century Boys (a more mature series) they do actually leave God as Kami. The target audience of a manga such as 20th Century Boys is able to understand all of the references to Japanese culture and are able to take in translation notes. The children One Piece is aimed at WILL NOT GET IT.
Yes, you are allowed an opinion, but your reasons for claiming Viz 'suck' are completely absurd. Plus you're only using One Piece as an example, which doesn't even count for 1% of all the manga Viz have released. When you're actually familiar with their work please get back to me, because then your opinion might mean something.

Stupid bloody browser =/ lost what i had typed -.- so ill just have to sum it up in points
- My "Viz Sucks" comment did sound a bit harshy but was only meant to reflect on the treatment of OP/DB
- I know its aimed at a younger market but dosent excuse the fact that they dumb it down to 4kids level and use 4kids terms and silly pirate puns ( tho to be faire pirate puns where only used in early chapters ).
- Im aware that everything needs to be translated and japanese text cant be left in and thats what i want to happen.
- I also agree on the fact that if a japanese pun is lost in translation a suitable pun should either be inserted or just replaced with something else. For example. Sogeking > Sniperking.
- Example of bad translation in my opinion. Tori Tori no Mi, Model: Falcon. Tori meaning bird would mean a suitable translation should have been "Bird Bird Fruit, Model: Falcon" But viz had it down as Tweet Tweet. which isnt correct and dosent work with th fact the guy turns into a falcon not a chirpy little bird. And is also a 4kids term.
- Kami.. They should just have balls and translate it as God. and the fact they have someone else call them selfs God in a previous chapter makes no sense.
- And They used Kami in chapters and didnt bother to add a editor note until a couple volumes when it appeared.
- Your end comment annoyed me =/ im all up for debates/arguments makes this forum worth coming to. but comments like that just annoy the **** out of me. saying my opinion means nothing =/

Yeah well what you said annoyed me, but I'm sure we'll live. Also, Bird Bird Fruit, Model: Falcon is a silly title. No wonder it was changed. I am not going to continue this debate because you are just not taking in what I am saying. No offence, but your opinon didn't really mean anything because you claimed Viz suck when apparently you were actually only referring to their work on One Piece and Dragon Ball. If you really did just mean that Viz's work on One Piece and Dragon Ball sucked then you would have said that in the first place. We can't have a meaningful debate when one of us is not certain on what we're debating. We're never going to agree anyway, so there is no point in continuing this pointless argument.
Southe,

Bird Bird Fruit, Model: Falcon is Correct tho. and its alot better than Tweet Tweet. Pretty sure if Giga Drill Breaker was renamed to something like Super Duper Twirling Drill you would have something to say.
And i could say the same to you. No matter what you say. Simplifying it and dumbing down is not a "Perfect" translation. No matter what age group its aimed at.
And you know what im like i say MANGA suck for missing subs and not adding clean OP/ED. I just say they do dosent mean i hate them completly just dont go into the details why. So when i said Viz sucked i was meaning cos of OP. My manga wouldnt be 95% Viz if i thought they sucked completly.
And fine end it here.

Uzumaki. It's the most disgusting thing I have ever seen. I'm surprised the creator didn't kill himself or something drawing such filthy images. Some manga is just plain wrong.
I feel sick every time I search Uzumaki in google images, but I just have to show you how filthy this stuff is.

God it makes me sick. Excuse me while I go and throw up. I want to go to Japan but when I see stuff like this I just want to die. That isn't even the half of it... thankfully the most disgusting images can't be found on google, or at least I'm not going to bother looking for them.
It's bad enough they made a live action film of it...
http://verleih.polyfilm.at/uzumaki/uzumaki_03p.jpg
How ******* disgusting is that? I'm glad I live in England where we have sanity and the BBFC to censor all of this filth.
I feel my mind has been poisoned. I first came across Uzumaki while I was flicking through this kind of manga encyclopedia in the college library two years ago. Its quite a big book that covers around 250 different manga. There is so much disgusting manga in existence its unbelievable. There was this image that I don't even want to try finding of a girl ripping her stomach open and scooping out all of her insides. Whats worse is that it was a colour page, so everything was stained red with blood. God... why do people think of these things.

The right panel reminded me of it because of all the swirly mist effects. Uzumaki means spiral in Japanese, and the manga is about a town that becomes obsessed with spirals. People start turning into snails and keep seeing swirly lines and spirals everywhere. I was going to buy Uzumaki at one point because its only three volumes long and it sounded good from the description, but when I saw images of it in that book I mentioned I was instantly turned off. Don't get me wrong, I like a bit of gore myself but Uzumaki isn't gory. It's just disgusting. As was that image of the girl ripping her stomach open with all of her guts flying out. Who wants to see that? Seriously. I can't even begin to imagine some of the stuff these people come up with in their minds. Actually, I don't even want to.

Yeah, the Gurren Lagann manga does have a lot of fanservice, haha. Even a little pull out page of Yoko... I was pleasantly surprised with the manga for Gurren Lagann though. Usually manga based on anime tends to be very disappointing, but Gurren Lagann managed to include everything that made the anime brilliant while still offering a new take on things. The art is great as well. I wasn't sure they would be able to emulate the anime's art style, but thankfully they managed to pull it off. Still, I wonder how they will visualize Spiral Space. Even the assistant director of the anime had trouble with that.

I read a really good oneshot the other day called Loop. It's about this millionaire who was brutally murdered and has to come back from the dead just to repeat the murder all over again once every year, because he left the world with great regret and so his soul is not able to pass into the other realm. On the 100th repeat he brings forth incredible determination to fight back and get revenge on his murderers. It is intense, brutal and hugely satisfying even though one part is a little cliche. I really recommend it. It's only 56 pages long.

Yeah, its from the same author that did Pretty Face and Mx0 - two popular shounens that were unfortunately cancelled. I was surprised by Loop as both Pretty Face and Mx0 were no where near as gory or brutal. I loved the attitude of the main character in Loop. "I may not have been able to do this before, but things have changed." he says after slamming a cleaver right into a persons head just before decapitating the other, haha.

Yeah, one review on MyAnimeList says;
"Since the author realized that he's going to make this run as long as he lives (or as long as there's interest) it has become a formulaic, and repetitive story. It basically runs like this:
-Training
-Fights
-End fight filler
-Rinse and repeat... FOREVER!"
It is about one million chapters long after all. I don't think the author could bring anything new to the series at this point.

Finished Azumanga Daioh yesterday. For a 4-panel manga it sure was as engrossing and touching as a normal series. I'd recommend it. Guess its time to pick up the anime again now.

Naruto, Bleach, DGrayman, Gintama, NHK, Death Note, FMA, Highschool of the dead, Love Hina, Dragonball/Z, Soul Eater, Gurren Lagann, Monster. Thats 14 other series That ive read or currently reading. Thats plenty. And OP stands above all of them..
Can say all you want but theres a reason it sells in the millions each volume. The current arc happens to be one of my faves from any series and the fact he was doing it while doing his part in strong world makes it even more impressive.

Not really seeing as how they're all very much the same genre.

I never denied you an opinion, I just suggested you should check out a few other series.

Removed it, all i said was get of your high horse,
Just the way he acts annoys me. Oh you should read more. Ive read 14 other series but thats not good enough because there 99% SJ series. Who cares seriously..
^^^
Well should mayb say it without making it sound like your pushing me aside because of the series i have read.. I'll read non sj titles when i have the money to buy other series. Like ive said before once i catch up complete seres i'll buy more. Monster and 20th Centuary boys being the next ones.

Obviously you since you're making such a big deal out of it. I don't care what you're favourite series is, but you acted like One Piece was the only manga in the world when you said 'nuff said' which is why I suggested you read a few others. I was not being rude, but I should have guessed you would take it the wrong way. You way you act annoys me.

I don't like beating around the bush. I like most of the series you mentioned, but they are all the same genre so I simply pointed that out. What do you expect me to say? "Sorry ol' chap, but a lot of those series are rather similar. Not condemning you or anything, but I am sure you would benefit from checking out some seinen titles and manga not associated with the shounen scene. I hope you'll consider my recommendation." I didn't know this website required absolute formality from its users.
Also, why not reply normally?

Not really couldn't care less just thought i would bring it up.

Well i don't care what yours is? don't reply to my post if you don't care and i've read more than a "few" others,
"I was not being rude, but I should have guessed you would take it the wrong way. The way you act annoys me."
Well it seemed it, and we've had this argument before,

Did you even read my post? "I don't care what you're favourite series is, but you acted like One Piece was the only manga in the world when you said 'nuff said' which is why I suggested you read a few others." And why should you care about my favourites? I don't expect you to. Why even bring that up? Read my edit above and lets end this, because quite frankly arguing isn't even worth it anymore. You've made a big deal out of nothing.

Was going to answer to each part of the comment but once i had done it said i didnt have enough characters to make a post so removed the Quote and just added "".
Big sarcastic answer there no. you said should try out "few" other series, i said 14 series ive read and that was plenty, you replied with "Not really seeing as how they're all very much the same genre" And the reason i made a deal out of it was it seemed like you said the 14 series wasnt plenty because there all the same type and also because of the argument we had before regarding what i read/how many. due to me complaining about Viz translation of OP.
So thought you where having a dig, but if you aren't then thats fine, no need to carry this on.
I WAS THINKING OF READING SOME MANGA, ANYONE KNOW ANY CHEAP AND/OR GOOD MANGA TO READ?!?!

Lol, stop lying. You don't even read manga. Also, every manga is cheap considering its free to read on the internet. Just take your pick.
