View Full Version : Hmm, am I right or am I wrong?

FlyDuo requested a script to be made on which I said I would do for £20 then he bargained me down to £15 which was cheap in the first place.
Then he said he would pay me £4.50 first then £10.50 after (weird number anyway) so he sent the £4.50 however due to PayPal charges I only received £4.15.
I then said I didn't have the time to do it because I have two layouts to code, a big project me and dylan are doing to code and a usersystem to code.
He requested back £4.50 even though I only received £4.15 in the first place and now he's saying I should pay the extra ammount when it's him who short changed me in the first place.
Before you say "why did you start his project when you had so much on" - yeah I shouldn't have but I thought I could fit it in.
But am I right or wrong?

Meh just give him back his 4.15, or 4.50 if you can, who cares, it's a few bloody pence!

Well I'm sure he knew that Paypal would deduct money from the payment.

I know it's only a small ammout I just don't see why I should pay the extra ammout when I never even received it in the first place.
@Excellent - exactly if he wanted me to receive £4.50 he should of sent a little extra to cover the charges, then I would of done the same now.

Tell him to stop whining about a few pence then.

Yeah, it's his problem for short changing me in the first place, if I would of received the full £4.50 I would of made sure he received the same back. He can have £4.15 or nothing to be honest as I don't see why I should pay for him short changing me.

He knew that there are Paypal fees so he should have sent something like 4.90 to cover them.

Yeah that's what I'm basically trying to say, you just worded it better. :P
You could have just refunded his payment.. then he'd get the full 4.50 back.

Im doing it on principle. The fact that you were charging me £15 not £20 for it is completely irrelevant anyway and "Robbie!" is now doing it for £12 so it wasnt that cheap in the first place.
You requested it via paypal. I paid £4.50 deposit and a day later I'm told that you are "too busy to do it". I object to being paid only like £3.50 back (after paypal charges again) when I have done nothing wrong. £4.15 is fine which is why I said send me £4.50 back and that paypal charge is fine. I find it rediculous that I should have to foot the entire bill for your lazyness. If you really dont have time then why did you start this in the first place and why are you asking for flash designers for a new project of yours?

I did, he hasnt paid it though.
What was the script for? I'm intreaged because he seems to think it was expensive in the first place.
Some database saving thing.
But if he pays you back £4.50, he's paying you for your mistake?
My mistake? He asked me to deposit £4.50 to him via paypal. Its his mistake for requesting it via paypal and then deciding he doesnt want to do it.

My prices are my prices which I think are cheap... Others may think otherwise - Why should I pay £4.50 when I never received that though I don't understand.
And I was asking for people to help make flash games - that's irrelivant. WOW ROBBIE IS £3 CHEAPER?!?!?

What was the script for? I'm intreaged because he seems to think £20 was too cheap in the first place.I think you mean intrigued? :P And I think it was for something that FlyDuo has posted in Web Market. Something to do with people submitting info and it going into folders etc.

Fact you can't even code you shoudn't have even accept to take it on. Also the price you are charging is far too much anyway, that's how much a professional would charge for a completely unique piece of coding, the task he asked for is extremely basic and should normally be done for free.
You should pay him back the full amount he gave you as that's how a business works, the fee's are not his responsobilities they're yours for using that as a payment method.
I can see you are going to grow up to be a con artist (and a poor one at it).
From my memory I believe the script was a contact form which would write the information submitted into designated folders in their own directorys. I bet he hasn't done it because its too difficult for him and nothing to do with being "busy" ^^.

Yeh, it was like that just slightly different to the one I posted.
Basically people add items into a database and can then rate them.

Fact I've coded loads of people stuff which can vouch that it was 100% my own work which the was satisfied with - my prices are my prices - "Robbie!" is only £3 cheaper so have a go at him.

The matter of fact was it shouldn't be anywhere near £15 for what is a 15 minute job. Plus no-one has seen your code publicly, so would you care to show some examples.
End of the day, this thread shouldn't be here. You should just give him his money back because you were the one that didn't complete the work stated.

Why not just quickly put something up on pastie.org now, just to see if your prices reflect your quality. Thats todo with the thread imo.

This has no relevance to the section. You have posted in public something that should be done in private. An argument was always going to happen and you started it.
Anyway this thread has done enough damage. Ciao.
