Are they only on 02 or could I get it unblocked then get a T-Mobile sim? That way I could get 7 day passes and it's way easier than Pay As U Go.
Also, I'm going away next week, if I am going to buy one with spending money so I can watch things, they can support videos can't they?
Do they have an airplane mode too? They probably do because people would use them as an iPod aswell but I just need someone to confirm these things.

Yes they have an airplane mode, eBay one then unblock it, you can't buy it sim free, and yes they support videos.

The 3gs jailbreak is out now (although its purplera1n and not Dev Teams) so you could unlock it with ultrasn0w?

This is true, you can also use redsn0w which is from the Dev-Team, either will work. purplera1n was released because the Dev-Team didn't want to release the jailbreak only to have Apple fix it in 3.1 fearing that it might be the last security hole or something similar.
Normally I don't make tools for the general public, and rather wait for the dev team to do it. But guys, whats up with waiting until 3.1? That isn't how the game is played. We release, Apple fixes, we find new holes. It isn't worth waiting because you might have the "last" hole in the iPhone. What last hole...this isn't golf. I'll find a new one next week.
I get paid next week and my plan is to buy a 3G S and use it with my current Orange contract sim as many other people have been doing. The only thing that won't work, on Orange atleast is visual voicemail. Best of luck jailbreaking and unlocking ;).

I guess it's a contract only thing, not that it matters much if you don't get alot of voicemail anyway, like me ;).

You can apparently also get unlocked iPhones if you buy them from Italy aswell, not really sure if it's worth the effort though.

So if I get it unblocked I can't use any SIM I want? I've seen my mums very first iPhone you can put a pin in the hole and the sim would come out, so surely if the phone gets unblocked any SIM will be useable? :P

Belguim also offers unlocked iPhones, which are the cheapest in price I believe.

That's the idea behind unlocking yeh. Getting an unlocked iPhone just means it isn't locked to a network when you get it, like O2 in the UK or AT&T in the US, so yeh any sim is usable on it.

Didn't know that, cheers though might be worth looking into.
Edit - Found quite a large thread about this over at MacRumors (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=713999).

You get 12 months free internet access with them when you purchase them on pay as you go. But you're gona have trouble getting one within the next couple of weeks - I bought mine and theres a faulty battery, the shops had to put in writing we'll get a new one when it's in stock, even when the 28 days expire.
Ye is does have aeroplane mode.
Need anything else just pm me xD
EDIT: You can jail break it allowing you to go on other networks (or so im told), but i know it invalidates your warranty.,

I don't think they'll be able to tell if you just restore it and reinsert your O2 sim.

Okay thanks for clearing that up, because my mum bought her 1G to a phone shop and they reckoned it wasn't capable to unblock, but if I use one of these programmes I could unblock it? :) Is it fairly easy to do?

You won't get it unlocked at a phone shop, atleast not in the UK. Yeh it's easy to do, there are many guides around that will show you how to, the best are over at iClarified (http://www.iclarified.com/entries/index.php?caid=2&scid=11&seid=2).
Good luck :).

Thanks, I've bookmarked that link :)
Is that battery life on 3GS good? My dad has a 3G and he's constantly moaning about the battery dying, it could be because he has a few apps and uses it quiet a lot for calls as he owns a business, but are they slightly improved on the 3GS? Because when I go Turkey it's a 4 hour flight and I was planning on watching a few Bear Gryll's, I just hope it doesn't drain too quickly :P

I've heard the 3GS battery is around the same or a little worse because of some bug in 3.0 or something, but it should in theory last the full 4 hours, any phone nowadays should.

Erm, Apple website says shipping within 5 days and I just went in the Apple store and bought one there and then on Tuesday. o2 and Carphone Warehouse didn't have any but the actual Apple store and Apple website have loads.

Can MP4's go on iPhone rather than me converting these files twice so my brother can get them onto his iPod?

MP4 files are what's preferred for iPods/iPhones/iTunes/Quicktime.
