    Default iPhone 3GS

Are they only on 02 or could I get it unblocked then get a T-Mobile sim? That way I could get 7 day passes and it's way easier than Pay As U Go.

Also, I'm going away next week, if I am going to buy one with spending money so I can watch things, they can support videos can't they?

Do they have an airplane mode too? They probably do because people would use them as an iPod aswell but I just need someone to confirm these things.

Yes they have an airplane mode, eBay one then unblock it, you can't buy it sim free, and yes they support videos.

The 3gs jailbreak is out now (although its purplera1n and not Dev Teams) so you could unlock it with ultrasn0w?

This is true, you can also use redsn0w which is from the Dev-Team, either will work. purplera1n was released because the Dev-Team didn't want to release the jailbreak only to have Apple fix it in 3.1 fearing that it might be the last security hole or something similar.

We release, Apple fixes, we find new holes. It isn't worth waiting because you might have the "last" hole in the iPhone. What last hole...this isn't golf. I'll find a new one next week.
I get paid next week and my plan is to buy a 3G S and use it with my current Orange contract sim as many other people have been doing. The only thing that won't work, on Orange atleast is visual voicemail. Best of luck jailbreaking and unlocking .

I guess it's a contract only thing, not that it matters much if you don't get alot of voicemail anyway, like me .

You can apparently also get unlocked iPhones if you buy them from Italy aswell, not really sure if it's worth the effort though.

So if I get it unblocked I can't use any SIM I want? I've seen my mums very first iPhone you can put a pin in the hole and the sim would come out, so surely if the phone gets unblocked any SIM will be useable?

Belguim also offers unlocked iPhones, which are the cheapest in price I believe.

That's the idea behind unlocking yeh. Getting an unlocked iPhone just means it isn't locked to a network when you get it, like O2 in the UK or AT&T in the US, so yeh any sim is usable on it.

Didn't know that, cheers though might be worth looking into.

Edit - Found quite a large thread about this over at MacRumors.
