Anybody watched this?
Just got the copy today, so i watched it.
What a great movie!
Its about a boy in a german military family, his dad is a soldier (like the commander of actions) and they get evacuated to the countryside, right next to a concentration camp, and the boy thinks its a farm and he goes there everyday and talks to this jew kid, and after a while this jew kid loses his dad, and the boy says he will help look for his dad..
so he gets the uniform and tunnels into the concentration camp, moments after he goes in they round up all the jews and send them into the chamber, along with the boy who sneeked in, and gas them.
then just after they all get gassed, his dad (the one who commands the holocaust and stuff) runs to the hole he dug and runs to the chamber, and stands there, then the camera goes on the chamber door (which before was being banged by the jew) which is silent, its very very touching and upsetting.

That film is AMAZING! I'm totally going to buy the book :)
It's one of those films where at then end you're just like " :l Omg... -silence- "
It's brilliant.

I just saw the movie today and to be quite honest I was disappointed. It was good, don't get me wrong, but completely overrated. I couldn't take the movie as seriously as I would have liked to either, seeing as how it was fiction based on the actual Holocaust. Theres no way Jews in concentration camps would have been able to communicate with people on the outside for so long, if at all. I also didn't like how the movie turned out to be more of a family tragedy than anything else, although the message was clear. An okay film, but nothing when compared to the likes of Schindler's List and The Pianist. I felt those two films also had a much bigger impact. The BBC have also produced better Holocaust movies such as The Conspiracy.

We read the book in English in year 9 and watched Schindlers List after, I doubt I'll ever get round to watching the film unless it's on tv one day.

I really, really love this film regardless of whether everything is factually correct (a kid working in the camps?). I read the book too and I much preferred the film.
The book's ending doesn't have as much impact as the film. It seemed the parents just moved on whereas obviously the movie had that last haunting scene.

I watched it a few weeks ago, and as said, despite being factually incorrect, it was a good film.
