I'm 13, 5'3 and im 7stone [45kg], even though my BMI is healthy [18.5, which means that if i lost any weight at all i'd be considerd underweight] i just look really skinny...And i don't exercise cos tbh i'm really lazy :D
I know I should exercise, but i'm afraid i'll get even skinnier! Lots of people say I'm anorexic [i eat healthily] when i'm not and i don't like it. Is there any exercises that can help you get fitter but not make you loose any weight?! [ i doubt there is but if you guys have any suggestions...] Because i know it's unhealthy not to exercise and i hate being unfit :(

Thanks,
Katie :)

There is nothing wrong with being skinny. I wouldn't worry too much because at 5'3 you should be somewhere around 7/7.5 stone and you are. When you exercise you burn calories/fat which will in turn make you lose weight but in losing weight, you'll gain muscle which means you will gasin weight. I personally think that you wont notice a difference if you do begin to exercise regulary (apart from the obvious becoming fitter) because of the balance of losing weight & gaining muscle. Remember that you are only thirteen so you have several years of growth still to do. Don't worry what people say either, they're probably jealous at how good you look compared to them.

Lol 7 stone is what I weighed at that age (male) and I was skinny. I had a really crap eating habit, never liked any food except crap. But I played a lot of sport.

Your not anorexic, ignore the people saying it because they are probably either ignorant or jealous of your figure cause they might be bigger.

Make sure you try and eat a bit of fattening food just to add that extra bit of meat for the boys to grab ;) Always good :P

I'm sure you walk/bike to school and around school which you'd be amazed how many steps you do walking around during a school day.

I'm exactly the same and I'm pretty much the same height and weight as you as well (although I'm quite a bit older). Although I probably have a pretty high metabolism I'd say it's partly down to my laziness as well.

What I try to do is not decline food. That probably sounds funny or weird, but if for example my mum ever says, 'are you hungry?' I tend to try and say yes even if I'm not and try and eat something because I'm concious of being (close to) underweight. The other thing I should do is eat as soon as I get hungry but I'm usually just like cba making anything until I'm quite hungry lol .

But yeah, forget what people say about you. As said above, they're just jealous :).

Off topic: my dad was from Cork :D x
