That time of year again, all banter, media links, team news, predictions in here. Try and keep it civil however the moderation team are aware that this years derby could turn a bit spicy so I believe a notice is going up in their section in the next couple of days asking to bit a bit more lenient and to hand out warnings/PM's more often rather than infractions for the run up and a couple of days after the game. Doesn't mean that you can blatantly break the rules and insult people though. Banter only.
Robinho and Tevez out however we proved today how strong our squad is. Adebayor should get off without a ban considering the FA's actions against Vidic and the blatent slap of the Wigan player.
Think we'll win, I rate Arsenal better than the rags.

Well, with all due respect, you would. I think it'll be one of those days for United. Don't play well but the magic of Old Trafford will work against you. Definately a penalty will be given, due to the fact the ref will be conscious it's a derby and expect alot of soft free-kicks. So the ref will pap himself, give a penalty and screw City over.
1-1

To be honest, I don't have a clue who will win it. Both teams are very good, it's just a case of who puts out the better performance on the day. Really can't decide.

I think the team that scores the most will win, otherwise it will be a draw.
In all seriousness though, this will be your first defeat in the league?

Will be a close game, but with United beating Spurs, we'll probably lose 2-1. But I would like to think we could get a draw out of the game?

You're called the rags because years ago when your stadium was bombed and we let you share grounds with us you had to borrow kits off you. we gave you all the rags. Of course this was when we were the bigger club.
I presume you mean modern history? If you only started winning things in the past fifty years before then it was City who were the big boys. We were the club everyone feared.

Modern history right? Historically we're the bigger club. Modern history, you probably are. It'll only take around fort/fifty years for us to be the "bigger club" again.
Rags? Footballing history.
Cocky? Wouldn't you? I look at your lineup and I have nothing to fear.

You calling Arsenal average Jake? :@! Na, we didn't play that well, but the score was a bit dramatic, probably should have been at least 4-3. Also, missing: Nasri and Arshavin so probably not in best form.
When we get a full team back:
Almunia, Sagna, Gallas, Vermalen, Clichy, Rosicky, Fabregas, Nasri, Arshavin, V.Persie, Eduardo.
That's a more than average team :P Well.. defence is a bit rocky but yeah. If we bought a new GK and CB, sorted!

OK, We could have: Djourou, Walcott, Fabianski and Vela back too in that case :P
Injury list gets bigger for us. First Rosicky had problems at the start of the season, now: Nasri, Almunia, Robin Van Persie, Denilson, Arshavin, Djourou, Walcott, Vela and Fabianski out too. Although some aren't that serious still.. 9 players injured is a pain lol. Almunia, V.Persie, Denilson, Arshavin, and Walcott should hopefully be back soon (within the next couple weeks).
Oh well, don't know why it's gone to injury talk now so I'll leave it at that.
ON TOPIC: Should be a good game, but Citys midfield will outplay United's, and both defences are quite strong but United will have the superior strike force, so I think a draw, or a united win.
Also, Kompany won't really make your first team with all players fit will he? He is a good player but won't fit in too much as you already have players in those positions, but he will be a good stand by.
Given, Richards, Toure, Lescott, Bridge, SWP, De Jong, Barry, Robinho, Tevez, Adebayor.
Maybe he could act as a CB or replace De Jong but don't think he will get a place in your first team.

You forgot to add Ireland in that team somewhere. I believe Kompany could get into our squad. I think I rate him better than Lescott, and he can play in CB or CDM (which he played the majority of times last season). If we're going to verse a good attacking squad, then we are robably more than likely to have Kompany playing in that game to give us a bit more of defense and an upper hand on the counter.

Hm, if im honest, I would say De Jong was better than Ireland in some ways and is probably better for balancing your team, but.. seeing as he is a fan favourite and still a good player then he would probably replace De Jong. In that case, unless there are injuries/fatigue then surely Kompany won't make it loool :P I think De Jong is more useful then Ireland in your team as you already have: SWP, Robinho, Tevez and Adebayor that are very attacking and then De Jong and Barry can pull the strings and play a defensive role too. Ireland can go forward better though so yeah depends. Against United, probably better to play Ireland if he is fit (no clue about his injury status), as your already lacking on the attacking front.

Ireland was playing with a ankle injury which is why he's been piss poor recently. Whys this thread descended into a thread about a crap club in debt and without champions league football within two years? :S
We'll bring it back on topic about two clubs who will both be the in the Chumps League in two years time, City & United.
De Jong is a DM and Ireland is a creative player. De Jong will play against teams who pose a threat at goal.

Wow...
I can't belive how cocky some City fans are getting. Calling Arsenal a crap club, and then saying that we are in debt...
Obviously you don't know the meaning of crap then...
Also, yes we are in debt as we built a new stadium, and not everyone wants to, and can afford to throw away 100's of millions in the transfer market and have a rich owned. It's not like you earnt Champions league football or even built yourself up, so before you start getting cocky and being arrogant maybe you should actually think properly before letting your loyalty to City get in the way.
Calling Arsenal a crap club? Wow..
Anyway, forget about Arsenal now, threads for City and United..

What's the point in having a SPORTS section which is dominated by football when you can't transfer the mild banter from the stands into this section?
My opinion on trolling? Probably saying to someone "Your team is crap, your players are crap" etc on a continuous note (you find most of this in stand and generally in a work place or school) to spark a reaction. Every so often is fine because it's basics of the ground banter.
That is exactly what the thread was about which got locked, stand banter. The moderating staff don't half baffle me sometimes on here.
Yeh, post your opinion of it if you like IF you're a continues user of this section - not someone looking to troll this thread.

I don't rate Petrov, or De Jong, and Ireland isn't as good as you City fans make out, but yes, Barry and SWP are decent Midfielders.

Seen how old he is?
He'd start for Tottenham so he's not that bad. He's decent back up for Robinho.
Don't rate De Jong? Watch Holland. Ask the dutch what they think of him. He cleans up everything infront of the defence, he's a player which all clubs need. He links the defence and the attack.

If City play SWP, De Jong, Barry, Robinho (I know they can't but I'm saying in the future)
And United play: Valencia, Carrick, Hargreaves, Nani/Giggs/Anderson. Then I'd say on current forum:
SWP > Valencia
De Jong < Carrick
Barry > Hargreaves
Robinho > Them three.
So yeah I'd say City have a better midfield personally. Also, they have the right balance as they have two holding midfielders, and two out and out wingers.
Also defence wise:
O'Shea = Richards (Equal)
Ferdinand > Toure
Vidic > Lescott
Evra > Bridge
Attacking:
Rooney > Tevez
Adebayor > Berbatov
So yeah basically:
Uniteds defence is better, City's midfield is better and the strike force is equal.
City have better subs though so I think if both teams were fit it would be quite equal. But, because of injurys, tomorrow I'd say on paper:
Citys defence is better, Midfield is equal, Uniteds strike force is better.
So yeah, I'd say a 1-1 draw or a 1-0 win to United.

True, but MU have a FAR suprerior defence, and they're without Adebayor, which swings it MUs way + you can't buy experience, which is what Giggs and Scholes have over ALL of the City midfielders.
I've already said, that I thought City would win, but that was when they didn't have any injuries/bans.
Now I am going to have to say that I think MU will win, and comfortably, if City had all their players, then I think they would win. But '**** Happens'.

Scholes is there to rough teams up.
Anyway, in my opinion...
Rooney > Adebayor (1-0)
Berbatov > Tevez (2-0)
SWP > Valencia (2-1)
Ireland > Anderson (2-2)
Carrick > Barry (3-2)
Robinho > Nani (3-3)
Richards > O'Shea (3-4)
Vidic > Lescott (4-4)
Ferdinand > Toure (5-4)
Evra > Bridge (6-4)
Given > VDS (6-5)
Close but United's defence is much superior, City has a better Keeper, better wingers, better attacking mid in Ireland, but I'd still prefer Rooney to Adebayor, but Ade to Berba so it depends on your comparisons.

So you're saying your official site is wrong? I mean, it has all the other players' stats. I just love proving you wrong, you just set me up for it.
Arsenal

SEB, Foley and Kights are all back and available for today's match, with Craddock and Iwelumo not far from returning to first team action.
But, thankfully we haven't been left without any injuries, as Stearman and Surman got ******* injured in training. Taking the pissmichaels.
I think Zubar and Elokobi are banned/fined after their Blackburn no-show. Great.

United's defence and attack are better than yours for this game :S You will dominate midfield though probably, plus I have a feeling Foster will mess up and let in a Tevez goal he should have stopped.

I don't see how it was bias though. It was 3-3, either team could have scored. A Sub normally takes 1 min, hence why that's why 1 min is added. So 5 mins extra time is about right. The goal was scored 5 and a half so yeah, maybe there was a little bit added so I can see why people are angry but United deserved it anyway. 80% possesion.

you add on 30 seconds for a sub, not a minute. even with time wasting, a sub does not take a minute. you rarely add any extra time on for setting up free kicks or corners because it's something that happens in the game.

It's not a one minute add on, and usually corners and free kicks don't put too much added time on anyway. Quote me saying 'the referee is a cheat'. I forgot the game, but a team in the Premier League we're winning 2-0. 2 minutes of extra time was added, and the game ended 2-2. Every second in a game matters and today proved it.
It's not a one minute add on, and usually corners and free kicks don't put too much added time on anyway. Quote me saying 'the referee is a cheat'. I'm mainly angry because we might have squeezed a point out one of the toughest games we would have this season, and to be robbed by a strange extra 86 seconds is quite frustrating Jake...
Understandable. I'll admit that I'd be very frustrated if it was the other way around. However, when you acknowledge how long the game had actually stopped throughout the original four minutes of added time it's about right, give or take 10 or so seconds. Say there had been two minutes and united had scored after two minutes and 10 seconds there wouldn't be any controversy or very little. It's more or less the same when you realise how long the game was stopped for.

I don't know why City fans are complaining. It was totally fair. If you can do simple maths you can see:
Bellamys goal meant it went from 4 mins of extra time to 5 and a half. Then the sub made it go to 6 mins, which is roughly what it was.
Stop complaining and blaming the ref because you have no reason to whatsoever.
United dominated, and deserved to win. You had 20% possession at the end of the game and played very very poorly in the second half. Bellamy should start more after his preformance today, but when everyones fit he won't which is a shame as it's a waste of a good player.

Funny how City fans try to justify their argument by asking if the United fans went to the game. Oh dear.

It was always going to happen Adam, they were never going to say that until they were outclassed. Words from the best football manager to embrace the beautiful game:
We gave three goals away today. It could have been an embarrassment - we could have won 6-0 or 7-0 today. But in the end we still we won one of the best Manchester derbies. We have a neighbour, and sometimes neighbours are noisy, but we showed our power today and we get on with life

Lol. You obviously haven't tried getting tickets to a big game away when only around 3,000 tickets are available, and you need enough loyalty points to get into the game. Which means, for me or Alex to get to the game, we would have to have gone to all the home games and about 90% of the away games ever since the system started which was a number of years ago.

I didn't try to be cocky, even if this was the case it didnt fail.
And yeh, i had nowhere near enough loyalty points on my card, and it was sold out way before i even had a chance.

The extra 20 or w/e seconds were justifiable. When ever you go to away games your mostly get the referee and the linesman's awarding stupid decsions for the fact that thier at the home ground and they know that they'll get stick from the home supporters but this time round, it was fair.
Just when i was watching the Spurs v United Match last week. Rooney was flagged for 3 offsides by the linesman when he was completely onside. The linesmen obviously gave the offsides as he was behind the spurs supporters and he knows what would most likely would happen if he hadn't of given them offsides.
Be ye, the 4th official was right to add on an extra minute or so... it was 3 - 3 it could of gone either way... GET OVER IT.

I know how things work, it's just as hard to get tickets for a united game.

Oh come on, it would be easy to get united home tickets if you tried.
