I recently decided that I would invest (a small amount) in some Turtle Beach X1 gaming headphones. I have read reviews that have all said that they are great. I looked at the price and decided that £42 was a decent price. Placed the order today and they should be with me on thursday.
I was just going to ask, does anyone here have them and if they think they are good / any setup tips etc. Thanks. Tom.

My brother ordered them a few days ago so they should be here like.. in the morning and I think he's pre-ordered CoD:MW2. So in other words, I'm getting MW with TBs for free :D.
They're good.. I can't stand them on a very loud volume though.

Great. I heard that they give you a great hearing advantage on games like search and also that they give you the upper hand in one and one situations as you can hear their movement better.

Btw is anyone getting these for anything other than CoD? :P

I'll use them in other games, obviously. But the reason I bought them was to play Call of Duty, yes.

I'll give a brief review of them.
I've had my X1's for about 6 months now, they are a really good headset for casual gaming. They'll improve your game a bit though it isnt all to do with the headsets. I've seen people who have Astro's and still cant win FFA's. It'll only benefit you if you play a certain playstyle, obviously if you rush in to an enemy spawn your still going to die. This headset and any other only benefit people who are patient. Dead Silence is a pain though, you cant hear anyone with Dead Silence, well you can but only on max volume which deafens you and even then you cant really hear them.
The chat-lead supplied breaks easily imo, the wires are a bit annoying and thats why Im upgrading to wireless. The sound is crisp clean, bass is clear although it's only stereo which is kind of a bummer but a 5.1 headset would cost a lot more. They are good for basic public gaming. If you want to hear Dead Silence in COD then you'd need to buy a better headset AXPro's or A40's but they are a good product.

sums it up really.
they're good, more advanced and if you're playing snd you'll be hearing a lot. rush game modes aren't the best, you're preoccupied already. they take a little while to get used to, you need to find out where the game sound and mic sound should be so take time to ajust it to the settings that suit you. you don't want to turn them right up and get blown up by a grenade!

I've got a pair of x3's and there great, aslong as you pay attention to the game cues such as footsteps which you can now hear, you'll become better.
If you don't listen to all the game cues that you can now hear with a headset, then you will be no better than you already were.
The sound quality is great however, and sometimes i just use them to listen to music when im on my pc.

Tbh I hear footsteps pretty well just through the TV. Anyway, when you say 'wireless', is the standard headset that plugs into the controller considered wireless, or do you actually mean non-wireless TBs have a wire going all the way to the console?

Yeah but there's surround sound in the headset, if you crank it all the way up on Search you can hear if people are going to defuse the bomb and such. Yep, x3s are wireless TBs but they swallow batteries..

Turtle Beach X1's and X3's are good for casual gaming in public games.
Astro's, Turtle Beach X4's and Trittons are for pro gaming like LAN events and such. Some people feel the need to buy them for Gamebattles and such. I'm getting some Astro's soon because I need a wireless headset and I'd rather get the best of the best because I'm very competitive even though I'd only play ProMod on CoD4.

As long as they plug into the controller like the standard headsets, it will be fine and I only play FFA really so it should be fun :P.
It plugs into the back of your TV then into your headset for the chat lead.

Ok, thanks for all the comments and help. Just wanted to update you: I ordered the Turtle Beach X1's on Tuesday night from http://dobble.co.uk and they arrived this morning (Thursday), so they did actually keep to their next day delivery. Here is a pic, can't wait to test them out!

My brother's came today as well :D. I haven't had a chance to try them out properly though, he's still playing :P.
Mine are now broke, ******* pieces of ****. I think it's the chat lead, whenever it's in it's making a noise and I'm unable to speak. Their chat leads are ******* terrible. Paul's have broke, so has Paul's cousins and now mine. x1s are ****, you get what you pay for - the cheapest tbs ever.

So far so good with mine. My mates are impressed and so am I. No complaints.

Ours are OK so far too. Knowing my brother though they won't last long .
I also thought my mic wasn't working, but in the settings I had it set on Mute so I couldn't talk even though the Mute button itself was flicked to Off.
I know what you mean about the buzzing noise though. I generally have never used a mic so when it gets too annoying I just disconnect it because you only hear it while the lead is connected to the controller. I tend to only see one or two people with mics anyway during games.
I think the headphones are awesome though. I've heard sounds in the game that I never heard through the TV. Simple things like the flies buzzing around bins or the crackling of fire :D. Everything is just so much clearer.

Wait till a few months have passed, your chat lead will break. Paul's have broke, so have Paul's cousins and now mine. Who's the next victim to low budget chat leads :eusa_clap

I've been through 3. The only thing good is they send you free replacements.
I've just emailed them, they should be sending me out a new one.

I have x1s because i play gamebattles and my chat lead broke but then i just brought the chat lead from here http://www.gamesharkstore.net/parts.htm
It's pretty stupid you payed £6 for it when it's covered under warranty anyway. :P They're sending me out a new one anyway, they replied straight away, when Paul told me their customer service is terrible when it's pretty good. ;)
