Take it to someone you know that's technical and pay them 20 quid to do it. Make sure they know what there doing though.

why do 300 quid games consoles do this for no reason? :l

Oh so is it only going to happen if you have it switched on for hours at a time? I rarely use mine so it should be cool :P.

I have mine on for long periods of time as I watch a lot of DVDs, but it's worked great since launch day 2007. It happened to my brother's though when installing an update 5 minutes after it was turned on, and he doesn't use his that often.

If you've got warranty, take solace. If not, just be like me and try and be optimistic about your console's health.

Black_Apalachi

lol if warranty is a year, I've had my PS3 for about that I think and my 360 for nearly two years....

From what I've read, the launch consoles have been reported to be dysfunctional, yet, of course, the Sony technical support team are as clueless as a *REMOVED*

The "racism" above is the popular worldwide expression "pet ****" - which means raccoon, I'd just like to point out.

its not that they dont fail, its that they do it far less often, and sony seem to be on the ball and get the system back to you within a week.

i trust that graph as much as i trust an african poverty-stricken child with my dinner.

i sent my xbox off on the monday, it came back on the saturday. and i didn't have to pay a penny, plus i got refunded on my live subscription. i hardly see your point.

it's just a pity that ps3 owners can't admit to their consoles' faults.

kk.
02-11-2009, 10:40 PM
i didnt just put that graph together  In most cases it wont cost anything to replace it if its in the warranty. Looks like microsoft were trying to cover themselves by having a 3 year warranty. And wow, a refund on your live subscription of a week.. if you hadnt realised, psn is free.

Not that that matters, the basis of your argument is obviously about being a fanboy. I have all three consoles and all do the job theyre meant to, i favour none to the others because theyre all good.

it's just a pity that ps3 owners can't admit to their consoles' faults.
and how ironic is that anyway

It's obvious some bias is going to happen but the fact is, the XBOX 360's hardware is unreliable, very unreliable and Microsoft noticed this and offered a FREE repair service... YLOD repair isn't free.

Blah blah PSN is free, yeah because it's dogger. You get what you pay for. If you don't believe that then you're a fool.

PS3 is a powerful machine, a more reliable machine and has some exclusives I wouldn't mind on the 360. Plus I think I'd like the controller more. But I prefer my 360.

See, that is UNBIASED.

nahhhh 360 controllers ftw. PS3 ones give me cramp in my hands after a while. I feel much more in control of a game with a 360 pad anyway.

I prefer 360s shape but not the buttons and vice versa for ps3s.

Black_Apalachi

I prefer the analogues and triggers on the 360, much more control. My thumbs always slip off the PS3 analogues and I find the control just too light as well.

You have more control on the triggers on PS3 controllers imo.

The 360 ones are so much more ergonomic! Can't you get things to put over the PS3 ones to make them more like 360 ones? That's basically Sony admitting to the fact the 360 ones are better :P.

No? Its Sony trying to get 360 owners to buy a PS3..

In all honesty, i do prefer to play on Live instead of PSN, although the only games we played was CoD4 and Halo 3..

If that were the case, they would have made the controllers more user-friendly as standard rather than realising how to make them better afterwards and creating an additional component which we must buy if we want the same feel.

What the ****? No, just no. How about this?

A 360 user likes the feel of the control for the 360, his mate has a PS3 which has a different controller style and the 360 guy doesn't like how it feels, so he can now buy some accessory so it feels somewhat like a 360 which he likes the feel of, thus being converted to a PS3 owner..

its not rocket science, mate.

Fair point. I guess the only way to know is find out when the little extension thingies first went on sale; same time as the console or afterwards :P.

what would that have to do with anything?

Just because it didn't go on sale around the launch of the console doesn't mean they hadn't had it planned for ages.

I'm sure you had a big deal being called mate...

And no, you don't see Microsoft making controllers add INS to feel like the ps3 so it is basically sony saying they made a screw up

Black_Apalachi

Well I still prefer the overall feel of a 360 pad and extending the PS3 triggers wouldn't be enough as the weight etc is also a factor.

In Australia saying mate is as common as a house fly during summer.

And as i said, it could be Sonys way of trying to convert people...

And that just supports the point that Sony think (in this instance) the 360 wins.
